The spacious living room has a light colour palette, allowing interesting pieces of furniture and decor in the bookshelf to stand out. Natural light floods through floor-to-ceiling windows, dancing across carefully curated surfaces and highlighting the delicate balance between contemporary minimalism and Eastern design sensibilities.
The interior designer suggested the neutral backdrop specifically to showcase the couple’s growing collection of artifacts gathered during their extensive travels throughout Asia.
South-East Asian art collection
South-East Asian art contrasts with contemporary furniture. A bright splash of colour from the rug adds to the eclectic vibe. This thoughtful juxtaposition of old and new reflects the homeowners’ personal philosophy about honoring tradition while embracing modernity. Above the streamlined sofa hangs a striking painting they discovered on their honeymoon, its rich textures and symbolic imagery creating a mesmerizing focal point that guests invariably comment on.
Modern apartment with antique furniture
A corner of the apartment is decorated with framed calligraphy, an antique dark wood sideboard and an ornate baroque-style mirror. This carefully composed vignette serves as a transition between the main living area and the more private spaces of the home, creating a moment of visual interest that invites closer inspection.
The sideboard required careful restoration before finding its place in their contemporary apartment. Its rich patina and delicate inlay work tell stories of generations past while providing display for the other items in the homeowners’ collection.
Custom bedroom furniture
A pine-green upholstered quilted mirror frame and matching bed headboard were customised for the bedroom. A Chinese ink painting adorns the wall behind the bed.
The resulting color creates a soothing backdrop for rest while adding unexpected depth to the intimate space. When morning light filters through custom silk curtains, the bedroom transforms into a serene sanctuary where Eastern aesthetics meet modern comfort.
Dark green bedroom colours
Walls are painted in a deep shade of green in the bedroom, making it a cosy, restful space. The saturated hue creates an enveloping atmosphere that softens the transition between day and night, helping the homeowners decompress after demanding workdays.
What makes this modern apartment particularly special is how personal each element feels—every object has been chosen not just for its aesthetic appeal but for the memories and connections it represents.
