A plain and ordinary home just won’t cut it for the sophisticated homeowners of this 1,800 sq ft, 3-bedroom Riviera Residences apartment. Their love for metallic trims and stone finishes like marble led interior designer Wein Goh from Poetus to design a cool yet refined home that is decked out in white and grey.
Walking through the entrance, visitors are immediately enveloped in an atmosphere of contemporary luxury, where thoughtful design choices reflect the homeowners’ discerning taste and appreciation for premium materials.
$100,000 Renovation cost
The $100,000 renovation cost included a major restructuring of space. Originally a 3-bedroom condo with a family room, the apartment is now compartmentalised into one spacious living and dining room, as well as one master suite.
This bold layout reconfiguration represents a significant departure from conventional apartment floor plans, showcasing how strategic spatial planning can transform even established luxury condominiums into personalized havens that better serve the residents’ lifestyle needs.
Designer furniture
The couple shopped at stores like Made & Make to select their modern yet unique furniture pieces. Each carefully curated item speaks to their refined aesthetic sensibilities, with clean lines and sophisticated silhouettes that complement the apartment’s architectural features.
The furniture selection process involved much deliberation, as the homeowners sought pieces that would not only function beautifully within their newly configured space but also express their personal design philosophy of understated elegance.
Master bedroom design
“It wasn’t part of the initial plan, but, after we understood the layout better, I proposed that we take down the two common bedrooms, family room, and common bathroom to convert the now-huge space into a master suite,” says interior designer Wein. This dramatic open-concept transformation exemplifies how contemporary interior design can break free from traditional notions of compartmentalized living.
The expansive master suite now serves as a multifunctional retreat where the boundaries between sleeping, dressing, and relaxation areas flow seamlessly into one another, creating a luxurious private sanctuary within the urban setting of Riviera Residences.
In the bedroom, the designer created a storage headboard for the customised platform bed. Its grey wood finish goes beautifully with the white marble flooring, and the colours and open area help instil a sense of calm in the space.
The bespoke headboard design addresses both aesthetic and practical considerations, incorporating concealed storage solutions that maintain the minimalist ambiance while keeping essential items within easy reach. The interplay between the cool-toned wood grain and luminous marble creates a textural dialogue that adds depth to the monochromatic color scheme.
Walk-in wardobe
Interior designer Wein also experimented with the walk-in-wardrobe, where all three walls feature differently designed closets. An open-concept section means the fashionable clothes on display will add personality to the room, while a traditional wardrobe allows clutter to be hidden.
This innovative approach to custom closet design transforms the wardrobe from merely functional storage into an engaging visual element within the master suite. The varying closet configurations accommodate different storage needs while creating a dynamic, gallery-like display for curated fashion pieces that serve as expressions of the homeowners’ personal style.
Luxury bathroom finishings
Stone tiles from Rice and a worktop from Cosentino clad the bathroom. The premium materials continue the apartment’s sophisticated design language, with the natural variations in the stone creating subtle visual interest against the predominantly white and grey palette.
The bathroom renovation embraces luxury spa aesthetics, creating a serene bathing environment that feels both indulgent and timeless. Carefully selected fixtures in metal finishes complement the stone surfaces.
