Designed by HYLA Architects, this corner terrace house has a clever combination of privacy and yet still enjoys natural light and ventilation.

How was this achieved?

Prinicpal architect Han Loke Kwang's strategy was to use slatted timber screens to clad the facade on one side, so people walking on the streets will not be able to easily peer into the interiors.

Positioned at an angle, light still passes through to illuminate the spaces naturally, while shielding for privacy.

The sloping roof gives the overall facade design of the house a very unique and angular look.

Full-height glass fronts the house and showcases the double volume living room, which has a book shelf that extends up to the second floor!

Furnishings and finishes in the house are kept to a neutral palette of whites, greys and wood tones for a cosy ambience that's also easy on the eyes.

Many of the spaces in the home enjoy lush greenery, which line the side of the house, including the open-concept kitchen and rooms upstairs.

Cantilevered staircase leading up to the higher levels are designed to create the illusion of floating wooden stair treads. Glass railings add to the seamless and clean look.

To add a pop of colour into the bathroom, aquamarine coloured mosaic tiles are used. Combining the use of various shades gives it a textural look too.

Another bathroom in the house takes on a more pared down look with an earthy colour palette. The unique standalone basin here is a feature in its own right!
