Home to a Norwegian couple and their two teenage children, this spacious 3,700sqf apartment was designed by William Chan of Spacedge Designs. Just earlier this May, the project was awarded First Prize in Interior Design Competition at the prestigious International Design Awards!

Located near Orchard Road, the home is an old freehold apartment built in 1983, but now features a modern, bright and airy look that makes the apartment appear even bigger.

Designer William imbued the apartment with an "immediate sense of light, air and space", by removing unneccessary non-structural walls to expand spaces horizontally and reshape existing spaces to suit the lifestyle needs of the family.

The central living area is open and accessible from all around the surrounding zones — kitchen, bedrooms and TV area.

The home's design is based on the key concept of simplicity that Spacedge Designs is known for.

A palette based on mostly white and neutral colours, as well as structures that have linear forms and crisp profiles, act as a canvas for the family's Scandinavian and Asian-style furniture and decor pieces.

The open-concept kitchen is stylish, but also practical with a large island counter worktop and all the modern appliances that blend inconspicuously into the cabinetry.

The adjacent light-filled dining area, raised to overlook the central living area, features a Desalto dining table and mismatched dining chairs, including a Kartell Louis Ghost chair.

The master bedroom also has an open, airy feel, with the bed positioned in the centre and looking out to views of the surrounding greenery.
