This traditional shophouse was transformed with the help of Md.Ma Design Consultants. The family spent $250,000 on renovation, this included taking down walls and replacing them with glass sliding doors, creating a large open space for the family to enjoy.
The narrow entrance of the shophouse used to be a small laundry yard. It has since been turned into a pebbled walkway. The rich textures of the yard complement the minimalist appearance of the living and dining space.
The original doors and and windows add a nice traditional element to the otherwise-modern room.
The outdoor bathroom brings an element of fun to the beautiful abode. Printed tiles bring a bright splash of colour to the bathroom, animal figurines take shelter under the sink and the sink's tap "sprouts" from the tree, hanging off a branch!
Upstairs the shophouse's high-ceiling and all-white theme helped the bedroom look and feel more spacious.
Like mermaid scales, green encaustic wall tiles decorate the bathroom and bring a seaside resort feel the master bathroom.
