11) Industrial-themed HDB flat inspired by cargo ships and ports

The designers at DistinctIdentity were approached by the owners of this 1,100 sqf four-room HDB flat in Tampines which was in dire need of a makeover.Their speedy eight week job cost $45,000 to execute. 

Set against a green wall is a custom-made TV console and a series of crate-like cabinets of varied heights, seemingly arbitrarily arranged. Finished in metal and wood-lookalike laminates, the cabinets house audiovisual equipment, footwear and knick-knacks.

Principal designer Francis Leong set out to “open up” the layout of this five-room HDB flat – putting in place a seamless flow of space from the foyer to the dining area, living room, and kitchen.

12) This HDB home in Tampines is one-of-a-kind!

Nine koi fish swim lazily around a clear pond, accompanied by two dark and placid suckerfish moving slowly along its floor and edges.

This unit is on the ground floor of Block 415 in Tampines Street 41, a low-rise HDB flat. The outside of the unit is decorated with lush greenery, and you hear the water before you spot the "pond" - a clear blue tank with its glass walls sealed to the concrete of the steps and wall.
