1) A 4-room HDB resale in Jurong with lots of plants and wood-steel furnishings
Measuring 969sqf, the flat has a combined living room and dining area. "My partner, Kelvin Chan, and I love to hose gatherings, and this modular use of the space allows us to do that," says homeowner and architect Kenn Goh.
Kelvin is an avid home cook, so Kenn designed extensive storage for kitchen utensils and their collection of handcrafted ceramic plates from Japan.
2) Local actor Jeremy Chan's Scandinavian- and resort-inspired four-room resale HDB apartment
When actor and comedian Jeremy Chan first bought his home — a four-room resale HDB apartment — he was sure of the look he wanted. “I’m a pretty chill person. I love visiting spas and resorts, and I wanted to recreate the cosy look and relaxing ambience at home,” he shares.
He engaged the help of longtime friend Ivan Lin of Aart Boxx Interior, who helped him to strip the unit bare, and redo the interiors to his liking.
"I love to cook, so the kitchen is definitely my favourite part of the home, and where I spend most of my time. Aside from whipping up simple meals everyday, I also do my work and entertain guests here. I initially wanted to use marble for the countertops, but Ivan suggested using quartz instead, for easier maintenance, while still achieving the look and feel I want."
3) Four-room HDB resale flat in Serangoon with a white-and-wood palette
This 1,030sqf four-room HDB resale apartment in Serangoon has lots of white and wood tones that give the home a cosy vibe.
In the living room, interior designer Eloycois Er of Erstudio customised many built-in storage cabinets. Overhead display shelves are added in the dining area, to showcase the homeowners' collection of Vodka bottles.
Instead of a walk-in wardrobe, the bedroom next to the master has a built-in wardrobe that stretches the length of the room to offer sufficient storage space. Glass sliding doors help keep the room from feeling claustrophobic.
