If you stay in a house, or an apartment with generous ceiling heights, here's how you can create a visually stunning feature in your home — by designing a spiral staircase! Take design inspirations from these homes.

1) White and bright two-bedroom loft apartment in Bukit Timah

Interior designer Jacky brought out the spiral staircase by matching the new floor to its honey-hued wooden steps. Placing the TV below lets the couple watch both the news and the kids, who often play on the stairs.

2) Three-bedroom loft-inspired condo unit in Whampoa with $50,000 renovation

The black spiral staircase in this home makes a strong visual statement. “As the rest of the home is in a lighter hue, I chose a matte black finish for the staircase for contrast,” explains interior designer Keave.

3) A Singapore house inspired by the Japanese paper art of Origami by Formwerkz Architects

The main staircase at the back of the house takes on the look of a spiral cardboard, with light streaming through the metal threads to create an interesting effect at the base of the stairs.

4) A home veiled in white mesh by Park+Associates wins Architizer Award

The highlight of the home is the grand spiral staircase featuring wooden threads with white balusters, which sits in the middle of the home’s layout.

5) 6,350sqf two-storey Bukit Timah home with a cool tropical Minimalist design

A row of window screens further the look of lines running throughout the home, intercepted by the addition of a large spiral staircase. Being the only curved structure in the home, the spiral becomes the centre of attraction when one is passing by the pool area.

6) Sleek and minimalist designs in this three-storey house with lots of antique furniture

In contrast to the rest of the space, the architect of this house chose to paint the spiral staircase black to create a visually arresting feature that immediately catches the eye.
