Wood Interior Design Ideas: Ulu Pandan Condo, Commonwealth HDB with warm, cosy wood designs
3-Bedroom Condo, Ulu Pandan
When the owner of this 2,185 sq ft (202 sqm) three-bedroom apartment in Ulu Pandan met with interior designer Maena Ong of Mong Design Studio, she was armed with a bunch of magazines with all its resort-style homes tagged.
Through discussion Maena realised that client’s brief leaned more towards styling than renovation, to create a laid-back contemporary, yet luxurious, style, that was punctuated by Asian artefacts.
Walnut Veneer, Rich Grain
The storage space for the entertainment system in the living room is clad in walnut veneer with a rich grain that highlights the home's opulent resort theme.
Oriental Carpet
A silk carpet from The Orientalist adds a soft touch to the study's nearly full-height cabinetry.
Brass Home Decor
An interesting brass-framed mirror, a trinket box and a tray of decorative items give the room sparkle and shine. The chest of drawers is from John Erdos.
High Ceiling Bedroom
A cluster of ceiling lamps from Lumiere Lighting makes good use and accentuates the double-height ceiling of the master bedroom.
4-Room HDB, Commonwealth
The biggest asset of this 1,033 sq ft (95 sqm) four-room HDB flat in Commonwealth is its unobstructed view of the sea on the west coast from the 29th floor.
Not wanting to distract from this marvellous view, the homeowners wanted a simple layout and a décor that integrated things that they liked, and sought Kelly Choong from Project File for design direction.
The dark wood tones of the cabinetry in the kitchen and dining table legs, to the parquet flooring of the bedrooms all serve to warm up the entire home.
Hacked Kitchen Wall
The layout of the home was kept relatively straightforward. The biggest change was made to the kitchen, where Kelly removed the wall separating it from the living area and built a wall-mounted display cabinet along one wall of the dining area.
Bedroom
The window ledge of the cosy bedroom was initially slanted, so Kelly made the ledge functional by adding a wooden base to it.
Retro Floral Wallpaper
Their love for prints is made apparent throughout the home - in the master bedroom, the wall behind the headboard is covered with a floral retro-inspired wallpaper.
Subway Tiles
The cool tones of the subway tiles on the washroom's walls give it a clean and polished look.
