The owners of this 1,184sqf four-room HDB apartment in Sengkang are self-confessed colour lovers, and knew from the outset that their home would be a bright space. With the help of Jack Loh from Three-D Conceptwerke, the couple are now the very proud residents of a kaleidoscopic home.
Step into the kitchen and your eyes are drawn to two main areas: the prominent Mount Fuji painting that the owners bought online, and the sea of hexagonal floor tiles in blue and white, which were imported from Vietnam.
Bi-fold windows of the top half of the kitchen walls allows the burst of colours in the space to be visible from the living and dining areas.
The patchwork sofa from Francfranc was the first piece of furniture the couple bought and it served as the starting point for the colour scheme in the living area.
The couple wanted a table where they could work side by side for the study. They paired it with his-and-hers upholstered chairs from Comfort Design and added a mint-green and tangerine Oriental-style metal cabinet from Ikea.
The master bedroom has a more muted vibe, with wood hues and white walls making clear that it is a place for rest.
When the owner and his wife first viewed their 786sqf two-bedroom condominium unit in Tampines, they got a shock at how small it was, especially since they were downsizing from a 2,500sqf terrace house.
However, being an experienced interior designer of local clubs and bars, the homeowner had more than a few ideas up his sleeve. "When it comes to dressing up small spaces, you need to do up the walls," he asserts.
The stately living room has wooden planks bolted onto one wall, lending an old-world handsomeness to the area.
Instead of cramming the shelves with numerous collectibles, Calvin stuck to a few to keep the room looking neat and tidy.
