For the couple who live in this 1,650sqf three-bedroom condominium unit with a lofty sloped ceiling, they wanted a home with a welcoming ambience since they host dinner parties at least twice a month. The engaged the help of Poh, an architecturally trained designer who runs Plattform, to deliver their dream into reality.
For a playful touch, industrial-style pendant lamps in varying sizes and heights illuminate the dining space.
Breaking up the monotony of concrete floors and white walls, the sloped ceiling was clad with timber planks. For design unity, a long wood-clad feature wall visually anchors the living and dining zones.
As the husband is a culinary enthusiast who spends a lot of his time experimenting in the kitchen, a generously sized island countertop was built for his use.
The walk-in wardrobe was customised by Mudian to store everything from belts and shoes, to clothes and bags.
The homeowners wanted to take advantage of the double-volume space of their 1,195sqf three-bedroom condominium apartment in Whampoa, so they roped in designer Keave Lim of Eightytwo to enhance the space and height of their home.
One of the ways he did that was to clad the walls throughout the living and dining area with strips of solid honey-hued white oak placed in a herringbone pattern. The wood wall helps lead the eye upwards and enhances the height of the living room space.
The natural light that streams into the home from the two levels of windows adds to the interiors' warm and welcoming ambience.
Keave also created a 54sqf loft level which can be accessed to by a space-saving spiral staircase. The staircase given a matte black finish for contrast to the lighter hues of the house.
Wall-to-wall shelving on the newly-created loft level was designed as a series of non-standard-sized boxes, perfect for storing and displaying the family's collection of model planes and cars.
Instead of positioning the bed frame against the wall in the master bedroom, Keave created a slanted headboard design which doubles as a low partition between the bed and the mini "walk-in" wardrobe.
