This three-room HDB flat at Shunfu was reconfigured by BOX ID Studio to produce more open-concept spaces that made the home look brighter and more spacious. The new layout allowed the homeowners to fit a long kitchen island worktop cum dining table, and even a walk-in wardrobe.

The mosaic-clad dining table and a lighting feature of exposed wires and bulbs add a touch of retro chic to the dining space.

The conjoined dining table and island unit - complete with counter space, sink and hob - saves space in the kitchen. The sink and hob are slightly raised to demarcate the cooking and dining zones.

The unevenly-toned cement screed floor gives an edgy and raw vibe to the minimalist space.

The owners chose furniture that are simple in form to match the streamlined space.

This inset sink counter in the master bedroom frees up space in the bathroom, and allows husband and wife to use either the sink or shower area independently.

Yet another three-room HDB designed by the good people at BOX ID Studio, this bachelor pad is an exception to the norm of dark and broody man caves, with its balanced colour palette of black, white and some refreshing jolts of colour peppered here and there.

The kitchen cabinets are much deeper than they appear as they eat into the bedroom space behind.

A simple dining area, put together with furniture from the owner's previous home, is set up beside the customised kitchen island.

Natural light flows within the common area after the removal of the wall dividing the kitchen and the living room.

This comfortable, light-filled study area was carved out from one of the former bedrooms in the flat.

The interior designer refurbished the toilet and turned it into an elegant en suite bathroom. A shot of emerald green in the bathroom works just to liven things up.
