The owners of this 1,335 sqf, five-room flat in Tampines told Francis Leong, principal designer of Ls’tudio, that they wanted a condo look for their home. A not uncommon brief interior designers get from HDB flat owners, Francis set out to “open up” the layout – putting in place a seamless flow of space from the foyer to the dining area, living room, and kitchen.

Marble-look quartz is used for the island top in the kitchen for a decidedly posh look. The tinted grey glass of the top row of cabinets adds a sleek touch. Metal vase, and candles, from Lifestorey.

Marble is a recurring feature throughout the home – not only does it lend a posh appeal, but also evokes a cool and airy vibe.

The storage room next to the entrance was removed to make room for the dining area. And to create the illusion of more space, a mirror was installed next to the customised marble-top dining table.

A panel of luxurious book-matched Volakas marble backs the TV set, and the storage unit is "lifted off" the ground to keep the living room looking clean. The porcelain tiles, with a marble-look surface, are easy to maintain and look almost as polished as real marble.

The sleek walk-in wardrobe in the master bedroom, created by making space from an adjacent bedroom, is fitted with tinted grey glass panels for a "magic door effect" - you can't see what's behind the glass doors when the lights are switched off, but when they are switched on, the walk-in wardrobe appears.

The original dining space was turned into the study, partitioned from the living area by tinted grey glass panels that help the room look spacious.

Designer Mike Tan of Egg3 streamlined the layout of this four-room HDB flat and brought in a chic rustic-industrial style that is chic, yet comfortable for the homeowners.

To demarcate the dining and living area, Mike extended the entertainment console, creating a border between the two spaces. The small border doubles up as storage space for the dining room as well.

Finding unique pieces to spruce up the now large and spacious living space was key to transforming the room. Interior designer, Mike, found a bamboo bench that reminded the owners of a resort-like style.

Mike, planned a wide, spacious look for the kitchen, with cabinetry on opposite sides of the space.

Working with homeowner's budget, the interior designer Mike used marble-lookalike laminate on the cabinets for a touch of glamour.

The bedroom has a calm, contemplative feel, thanks to the black and white theme.

The washroom has a good balance of practicality and style. There is ample storage space in the built-in cabinets over the sink and ledges for placing pretty toiletries. The wood laminate walls and stone-like sink countertop are not only sleek-looking, but easy to maintain too.
