To achieve what this homeowner wanted -- a Mid-Century Modern-inspired look with dark coloured flooring -- the designer had to gut out the existing parquet and replaced it with black stained parquet for its subtle textural effect.

Furniture pieces throughout the home make the spaces stand out, such as in the study, where a wall of String shelves offer flexibility for display and storage. The homeowners bought the study table from Danish Design, and complemented it with a study chair from Pomelo.

In this home by Formwerkz, a typical teak sofa and armchair from the 60s' have been reupholstered to give it a sophisticated look. Its classic design never goes out of style, as with its companion, the plywood Cherner armchair, designed in 1958.

This family wanted a look that is “modern yet vintage in some way”. The adult sons picked up wood furniture in the Mid-Century Modern style from vintage furniture shops such as Junkie’s Corner, Second Charm and Lorgan’s.
