House Tour: All Black & white semi-detached house on Leith Road, Kovan self-designed by lady owner
Despite having no formal interior design background, the owner, the founder and executive director of a skincare firm, did not hesitate to undertake the design process herself.
Armed with sketches and specific instructions of what she had in mind, she enlisted a contractor friend to execute her ideas on her 6,000 sq ft (557 sqm) semi-detached house on Leith Road.
Crisp white walls exude a gallery-type feel and are a fitting backdrop to designer pieces such as the Helena sofa and the Wonders coffee table by Nathan Yong.
Tree in Living Room
The indentation where the tree grows gives depth to the length of the living area.
The home is largely furnished with pieces from furniture shop Grafunkt, such as this Oak Pringles Lounge chair, as the owner is "a fan" of designer Nathan Yong's furniture.
Staircase Glass Railings
The original stairs were retained, but the rails were removed to match the minimalist look and replaced with a glass wall for safety.
Outdoor Designer Furniture
Acapulco lounge chairs and Neon coffee tables add colour to the monochromatic theme.
Corridors
Open communal areas are just as important - here, the original corridor was expanded to give the kids freedom to play outside their rooms.
Bedroom Partition Wall
A partition acts as the bed headboard, while demarcating a walk-in wardrobe behind it.
