Overkill’s Ryan Tan is ready to start a fresh page with his Autumn-inspired $2.3m condo in Kembangan
The media professional and entrepreneur has turned to autumnal touches to create a space that’s all about renewal and rest.

Autumn is not a season one might immediately associate with Singapore, but in Ryan Tan’s new home — a 1,300 sq ft condo unit in Kembangan — it’s impossible not to feel its presence. Here, warm light streams through floor-to-ceiling windows, catching on rich walnut finishes on some furniture and the subtle grain of travertine surfaces on others.
The theme for Ryan’s home is autumn. The space is replete with the colours: orange, brown, cream and beige.
Perhaps it is autumn’s burnished tones and gentle transitions that became his muse. It is a season that, like his life, knows the weight of change and the solace of new beginnings. “I’ve always loved autumn,” the founder of media outfit Overkill Singapore says. “It feels warm, comforting, like the world giving you a moment to breathe.”
Over 300 Viewings And Negotiating Eight Times
Homeowner Ryan Tan now lives with his girlfriend at a condo in Kembangan.
Finding the right home was no walk in the park. “It took me eight months and over 300 viewings,” Ryan says, recounting how he set his eyes on this particular unit at The Trumps, a Kembangan condominium. What’s serendipitous is that The Trumps was among the first condos he visited, though his journey to secure a unit there was anything but straightforward.
The majestic view of the East Coast and the city skyline was what ultimately convinced Ryan to return to The Trumps. He had tried inserting flyers into letterboxes and even traced property details through public databases before finding a contact who was hesitant to sell. According to Ryan, it took him eight attempts at negotiating before clinching a deal at $2.3 million. “The previous homeowners, who were retirees, were hesitant to sell. I understand that they bought the home decades ago for $600,000,” Ryan says.
He eventually appointed Jaslin Lee and Daniel Lua from local design firm Extrusion Pte Ltd to help out with the sprucing up of the home.
Where The Creatives Work
Step into the home, and the first thing that catches the eye is the workstation. It’s separated from the foyer by two wall-to-ceiling cream-coloured melamine boards. Between them stands a sturdy travertine column in light beige that houses an aquarium filled with a few moss balls, some shrimps and sea snails.
This is where Ryan and his influencer girlfriend, Cherylene, both creatives, work side by side at ergonomic tables and chairs against the backdrop of textured wall made of spray-on wallpaper.
The faux maple tree is the brainchild of local plant boutique SoilBoy.
The centrepiece of the home, also Ryan’s favourite feature, is a sculptural maple tree that stands beside the workspace. Conceptualised by Ryan and brought to life by local plant boutique SoilBoy, the faux tree, which boasts several branches of red maple leaves, was something that was suggested by the designers. “I wanted something that captured the beauty of the season,” Ryan explains. “Jaslin and team helped me make it work.”
The Dining Space
Ryan has always been a fan of Gray and Sanders’ furniture. Here, an American walnut table with epoxy inlays rests in front of the window with a scenic view.
A striking live-edge American walnut table with creamy epoxy inlays, crafted by Gray and Sanders, serves as the centrepiece of the dining room. Positioned beside a floor-to-ceiling window, the table basks in natural light during the day, with the vibrant cityscape as its backdrop. The maple tree rises beside the dining table.
Hacking Two Walls To Enlarge The Living Area
To craft a spacious living area, Ryan hacked away two walls, merging what were once two smaller rooms with the main hall. The result is an open, light-filled expanse, anchored by a cream-toned sofa that invites you to sink in and stay awhile. A travertine coffee table sits in front of the sectional sofa. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame a panoramic view of the city, an unmistakable feature that greets visitors as they enter the home.
An intentional protrusion, this wall feature is a nod to Ryan’s fresh beginnings.
A unique design feature—a wall-mounted installation with soft, flowing curves—was incorporated by the interior designers as a symbol of Ryan’s fresh start. Resembling a page mid-turn, the protruding fixture captures the idea of renewal. Initially unsure if the feature would stay, Ryan admits he needed convincing. “I wasn’t sure it fit at first. But when Daniel explained what it meant, I was sold,” he says
Panoramic View From The Master Bedroom
The master bedroom offers a panoramic view of East Coast and Singapore’s cityscape. It’s this sight that got Ryan enamoured.
The master bedroom offers breathtaking views, thanks to its wraparound windows. A king-sized bed, dressed in crisp white linens, stands at the heart of the room. The understated palette of the space, punctuated by textured bed backrest, enhances its restful atmosphere.

The Master Bath
The onsen was something Ryan had always looked forward to during his trips to Japan, and now an onsen-inspired tub has a place in his home. Ryan says that the tub takes 45 minutes to fill. In the time it takes to fill, he dedicates himself to work. “It’s a way to make the most of my time,” he says. Complementing this indulgence is his toilet, equipped with seats that can be warmed, just like those in Japan.
Other Ways To Capture Autumn’s Vibe
Throughout the home, the colour palette remains consistent: creams, browns, and hints of orange. This is how Ryan and the designers intend to bring out the autumn’s allure. Subtle details, like the engineered wood flooring chosen for its durability and warmth underfoot, highlight Ryan’s meticulous attention to comfort and aesthetics.
“Even my dogs match the color scheme,” he jokes. Being the founder of his youtube channel Overkill, Ryan created a detailed walkthrough of his home too, but catch Home & Decor’s walkthrough video below.
