Despite being believers of feng shui, the young owners of this five-room HDB in Choa Chu Kang did not want their first home to look too traditionally Chinese. So Ray Sim of 2Form Interior Design translated his design concept from the couple's auspicious colours and desire for something contemporary.
The living area can be accessed through white saloon-style swinging doors carved with an Oriental motif contrast with the gold-coloured columns and jade green wall stripe.
Subtle details like a geometric motif and a red wall highlight this Chinese fusion theme. A carved Oriental motif screen echoes the red on the wall, as well as the pattern of the saloon-style swinging doors to the bedrooms.

The light-brown wood panels in the bedroom are urbanised with white wire lamps. Mustard yellow sheets bring out the honey hues of the wood elements in the master bedroom.

A banker-turned-fengshui-practitioner, Wilfred Leu recently had the opportunity to apply his expertise of the Chinese philosophical system to his own home. Working with design consultant at Copper Design Associates, Miki Shi, Wilfred was able to incorporate his extensive collection of auspicious artefacts into his fengshui-driven home.
The close working relationship and good communication between Wilfred and the designer resulted in a unique apartment that harmonises fengshui and interior design principles seamlessly.

According to Wilfred, there should be a good balance of direct and indirect lighting in every house, particularly in the living room, where warm-white lighting is preferable to cool-white.

In this five-room HDB flat, interior designer Benjeemen Heng shows how to employ fengshui principles while not scrimping on style.
The living room is spacious enough to accommodate a large plush Le Mercier sofa, which works to anchor the space.
White was prescribed for the living space, punctuated by accessories in other colours, such as the cowhide rug.

Green mosaic and black tiles laid over the original tiling of the master bathroom enhance the Earth elements of the sector.
