Tucked away along Jalan Loyang Besar, the newly opened Coliwoo Resort Changi has officially transformed a former 40-year-old state chalet into Singapore’s very first resort-style co-living hotel.

The resort is a quick 10-minute drive from Changi Airport and Changi Business Park. If you drive an electric vehicle, the resort has you covered with on-site EV charging parking lots.

Former CherryLoft Loyang Chalets
Built in the 1980s, the original property had been a staple of the Pasir Ris coastal strip for roughly 40 years. For many Singaporeans, it was a highly nostalgic location synonymous with school holiday staycations, massive family gatherings, and weekend barbecues.

Owned by the Singapore Land Authority (SLA), the site comprised 20 two-storey buildings and 4 single-storey structures. It featured fewer, much larger individual units (roughly half the unit count of the current 380-room layout) that focused on traditional family chalet stays.
The property was known for its distinct terracotta clay tile rooflines and generous open spaces. However, after decades of use, the complex eventually fell out of active service and sat disused until the mid-2020s, when the government put the site up for public tender to give it a second lease of life.
Coliwoo Resort Changi is a 6-minute walk to the adjacent CSC @ Loyang chalets.
While 159 Jalan Loyang Besar was repurposed into Coliwoo, the neighbouring plot at 159W Jalan Loyang Besar remains active as the separate, ongoing CSC @ Loyang resort operated by the Civil Service Club.
