EDL Launches 2027’s Laminate Collection: Moving away from ‘Instagram-worthy’ designing

Ahead of its 25th anniversary in 2027, regional surface design specialist EDL has officially launched its new 27 Collection. Developed around the core theme of Materials for Everyday Living, the release shifts interior design priorities away from instant, high-contrast visual statements toward quiet, tactile finishes that foster emotional connections over time.
The 27 Collection introduces 12 distinct decor series focused on subtle surface variations, fine textures, and visual longevity.

Kiravaio
A technical advancement featuring a neutral ecru-toned core to reduce dark, unsightly edge lines on light-colored laminates, enabling seamless joins on cabinetry and wall application - shades range from Fion Maple, Urban Oak, Hygge, Intonaco, and Aurelio Blanco.
UniSurface is defined by solid, uniform tones offered across three finishes: two wood textures - sandblasted and ash - and a linear finish.

Luna Mirror features polished surfaces with a ripple pattern that gently modulates reflection. Inspired by lunar forms, the design introduces depth through control.

Universal interprets recycled and composite surfaces through a refined composition of small fragments that reveal themselves gradually, creating texture and depth without visual noise and lending itself naturally to enduring interiors.

Options such as Universal (fine terrazzo fragments), Deva (larger mineral fragments), Intonaco (stone-cement finish), and Clay (multi-directional brushstrokes).
Tailor Oak bears minimalistic stripes that flow gently into one another and create a restrained play of colours.

Textile & Metal Options
Hygge and Itaca introduce woven, grid-like textile structures, while Artemetal Matt provides a brushed metal finish designed to eliminate glare.
Artemetal Matt presents brushed metal surfaces resolved in a soft matt finish. The reduction of reflectivity tempers the linear brush pattern, giving the material a controlled, contemporary character.
A Shift Away from “Instagram Moments”
The 27 Collection responds to an evolving trend in interior design: moving past bold, hyper-expressive visual patterns designed primarily for quick social media impact. By prioritizing emotional tactility, EDL focuses on how materials feel and how they interact with ambient light. The decors invite slower visual engagement, revealing detailed nuances only upon closer inspection.
EDL introduced its first laminate series with an Ecru Core through the Kiravaio collection. Ecru core is a technical laminate made with a neutral core to reduce affordably the appearance of unsightly dark joins.
Beyond surface aesthetics, technical additions like the Ecru Core resolve long-standing visual challenges in joinery work. By matching the internal substrate color to light surface decors, seamless visual continuity is maintained across cabinet edges, countertops, and slim profiles.

The catalogue’s cover features a modernized linear reinterpretation of the EDL logo, symbolizing the brand’s ongoing transition from a material vendor to a collaborative design partner.
