A penthouse kitchen tailored for a wine collector

In a penthouse designed for a wine enthusiast, the dry kitchen becomes a quiet yet elegant showpiece.

At its centre is a Gaggenau-integrated wine fridge with a glass display, flanked by bespoke cabinetry that showcases fine glassware and decanters. While the rest of the fridge is clad in finishes that match the surrounding cabinetry, the wine collection takes pride of place – subtly spotlighted without overwhelming the space.

The kitchen was designed by Gwen Tan, founder of Studio IF and an avid home cook. Her personal experience shapes her professional philosophy: kitchens should be intuitive, beautifully efficient and deeply tailored to how people truly live. This includes features such as walk-in pantries (even in compact homes), clearly defined cooking zones and seamless layouts that flow effortlessly from prep to plate.

That’s why Gwen is meticulous about understanding each client’s habits and routines – ensuring that the kitchen supports not just food preparation, but daily living. She also embraces material innovation – from interior finishes to hardware – viewing the kitchen as a canvas for creative expression and experimentation. It’s a design philosophy that aligns with Gaggenau’s spirit of innovation.

Gwen adds: “I’ve been using Gaggenau products in my own kitchen as well, and they are still working strong despite over 10 years of heavy usage.”

Industrial-luxe meets everyday performance

In a black-and-white bungalow in Bukit Timah, the kitchen is both a design statement and a functional powerhouse.

Conceived with a bold industrial-luxe aesthetic, the open-concept space features a Gaggenau Vario 400 cooktop and downdraft ventilation system – a sleek combination tailored to the home owners’ love for entertaining. The appliances enhance the kitchen’s overall flow and sophistication, while delivering the power and precision needed for serious culinary ambition.

The appliances were selected in consultation with Rina Electrical, an expert in kitchen and laundry care appliances with decades of experience in home solutions. Whether it’s for gourmet home chefs or those who prefer light cooking, the team at Rina Electrical guides home owners through appliance selection based on individual cooking habits.

“Singaporean home owners investing in luxury kitchens are looking for a seamless blend of form, function and longevity. They want kitchens that are not only stunning to look at, but are also high-performing and ergonomic,” says manager William Tan.

By understanding clients’ cooking patterns and lifestyle needs, Rina Electrical is able to recommend solutions – such as Gaggenau – that offer both refined aesthetics and professional-grade performance, seamlessly supporting how people cook, bake and live.

Scandinavian calm, designed for hosting

In a semi-detached house at Frankel Estate, the kitchen isn’t tucked away – it’s the heart of the home. Designed for a family that loves to cook, bake and host, the space reflects their warm, welcoming lifestyle, while also blending east-meets-west influences that speak to their heritage.

Anchoring the dining and dry kitchen zone is a generous island that functions as prep space, a plating station and gathering point all in one – perfect for both casual meals and hosting family and friends.

To complement the dry kitchen’s light, modern Scandinavian look, Museum Squad selected a Gaggenau oven that integrates seamlessly into the cabinetry, delivering professional-grade performance without disrupting the space’s visual clarity.

For interior designer Alex Kwan, principal designer of Museum Squad, timelessness takes precedence over trends. He adds: “Gaggenau’s presence is almost irreplaceable – one glance and its signature look stands out in every kitchen.”
