11 Singapore-Based Creatives Showcase New Perspectives on Everyday Surfaces at Lamitak City

To celebrate its 25th anniversary and the official opening of its new space, Lamitak City, homegrown surface laminate brand Lamitak is launching Ways of Seeing, Ways of Living.

Running from late September to December 2026 at Bras Basah Complex, this special showcase invites 11 Singapore-based creatives across design, art, photography, fashion, craft, and spatial practice to reinterpret laminates through their own unique creative lenses.

Moving beyond viewing laminates as mere static architectural finishes, the exhibition explores how everyday surfaces can serve as starting points for personal stories, visual expressions, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Each participating creative began with a moodboard or visual direction shaped by their personal memories, instincts, and design philosophy. Lamitak then translated these concepts into tangible material palettes and spatial expressions, presented to the public in the form of collectible postcards.

Xie Qian Qian of GRAYE

Xie Qian Qian is the Founder and Creative Director of GRAYE, a local fashion label celebrated for its timeless unisex garments that harmonise innovation with tradition. Guided by a material-first approach and conscious living, her label has built an international following.

Having previously collaborated with Lamitak on their frontline uniforms, Qian Qian brings a fashion sensibility to the world of surfaces. Her work explores the connection between fabric, structure, and the way materials live with people over time, offering a thoughtful perspective on craft and everyday wear.

Agnes Yap of Ascend Design

Agnes Yap is the Creative Director of Ascend Design, an interior design studio known for creating highly personalised, timeless spaces. With a multidisciplinary background spanning interiors, branding, and fashion, Yap approaches design with the belief that “design is not about perfection, but about presence”.

For this showcase, he adopts a homeowner-first lens attuned to texture, light, and silhouette, demonstrating how surfaces can transcend simple finishes to become part of spaces that feel lived-in, loved, and quietly dramatic

Cheryl Teo of LULO Paper Studio

Cheryl Teo is a paper artist and the founder of LULO Paper Studio, specialising in handcrafted paper sculptures and immersive installations that transform ordinary materials into whimsical creations.

Having been commissioned by major cultural institutions and global brands such as the Singapore Art Museum, Apple, and Samsonite, her practice centers on playful visual storytelling. In this exhibition, Teo applies her meticulous craftsmanship to explore the wonder, beauty, and creative possibilities inherent in surface materials.

Pei Li of PeiPer

Pei Li is the artist behind PeiPer, renowned for her delicate, handcrafted botanical forms and flowers made from paper and mixed media.

Rooted in the concept of preservation, her practice seeks to capture the fleeting, transient beauty of nature and translate it into poetic spatial installations. Her response to Lamitak’s materials brings a botanical and narrative-driven lens, blending history, stories, and nature into surface design.

Weiyan of In Merry Motion

Grounded in a background in industrial design, Weiyan co-founded In Merry Motion, a craft and design studio dedicated to creating inclusive, intergenerational experiences that foster connection and community.

Driven by a desire to uncover the magic in everyday life, her contribution to the showcase uses craft to explore how surface textures and materials can nurture a sense of belonging and human warmth.

Jovian Lim

Jovian Lim is a photographer whose work navigates the balance between realism and romance, capturing light, materiality, and atmosphere through a poetic lens. His images have been acquired by the Singapore Art Museum and commissioned by luxury hospitality brands like Odette and Marina Bay Sands.

In Ways of Seeing, Ways of Living, Lim brings his keen eye for subtle visual storytelling to investigate how light interacts with laminate surfaces.

ANTZ

ANTZ is a prominent Singaporean urban artist whose vibrant, character-led work draws from street culture, Chinese mythology, and contemporary graphic design.

Known for his murals, sculptures, and public art pieces featured in initiatives like SG50 and Singapore Art Week, ANTZ translates his background in graffiti and visual narrative into bold, thought-provoking surface interpretations that fuse traditional influences with modern street art.

Mervin Tan of Plus Collaboratives

Formally trained in architecture, Mervin Tan is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Plus Collaboratives, a studio focused on research-led, human-centred design experiences.

Tan’s practice centres on making design accessible and engaging for the wider public. For this showcase, he applies an architectural and strategic framework to show how material choices can simplify complex design concepts and spark meaningful community engagement.

Nikko Pascua

Nikko Pascua is a commercial and artistic photographer specialising in food, beverage, and travel photography.

Recognized in regional and international award platforms such as Cannes Lions and Campaign Brief Asia, Pascua’s work focuses on light, culture, and ordinary moments. His display translates his cinematic visual style into exploring the quiet, lived-in beauty of everyday surfaces.

Selwyn of FARM

Selwyn is an architect by training who leads the multidisciplinary portfolio at FARM, encompassing interiors, branding, and curatorial research. Having worked closely with Lamitak over the years to shape their showroom journeys, Selwyn’s contribution brings a deep architectural perspective to the showcase.

His work examines how surfaces are not merely specified as static materials, but dynamically experienced through spatial scale, proportion, and detail.

Ruby Chong and Kenny Ren of Hello Homebodies

Ruby Chong and Kenny Ren are the self-taught design duo behind @hellohomebodies, a lifestyle brand and studio known for curated, romanticised interiors.

Featured in publications such as Design Anthology and The Straits Times, their human-centric philosophy dictates that spaces should reflect the people who inhabit them. Their display offers a practical, homeowner-first perspective, demonstrating how thoughtful laminate selections can make residential spaces feel effortlessly personal, expressive, and lived-in.
