Renovation: A fuss-free and affordable solution for damaged wood flooring

What to do if your parquet floors are badly scratched, and can't be resurfaced:

Parquet flooring is made of small, solid wood pieces placed together to form a pattern on the floor. Resurfacing should be able to remove light scratches, but if the marks are deep, even sanding down the wood won't be able to remove them. It would then be recommended to use laminate flooring as an easy cover-up as the installation is fast and fuss-free, especially if you're keen to retain the look and feel of "wood" flooring.

Laminate flooring is also more durable as it is scratch-resistant. To keep your flooring looking new and scratch-free, sweep regularly to prevent build-up of dirt and dust, wipe up water and other spills promptly to prevent water damage and warping, use area rugs in high-traffic areas, avoid walking over the floor with high-heeled shoes, never drag furniture over the flooring, and use furniture pads on the furniture legs.
