If you find the door to the bomb shelter in your home an eyesore, especially if it's in a prominent location like the living area, here's what you can do to disguise it:

There are many ways to hide the bomb shelter door. They range from cheap and easy ideas such as hanging a textile artwork over it, to resurfacing the door with chic, expensive panelling to make it "vanish" into the surrounding wall panels.

Another relatively inexpensive but elegant designer technique is to cover the wall and the door with wallpaper. Design Intervention uses a bold, blue-and-grey striped pattern (pictured) that makes the room feel taller and airier. The stripes are carefully placed so the linear design helps the door to "disappear".
