Of all my heavy-duty appliances, my dishwasher is one thing I cannot live without. Growing up, we never had one, and the moment my husband and I bought our first home together, our dishwasher was one of our first major appliance purchases. Every Singaporean is familiar with the Bosch brand; it’s one of the most popular appliance namesakes across households. The strong market contender has regional headquarters in Singapore, and it’s appreciated for its good after-sales service.
The freestanding compact SKS62E32EU Bosch dishwasher is a mid-range buy that’s easy to operate and energy efficient. If it’s your first time purchasing a dishwasher, you’ll be impressed with how silent it runs and how sparkly clean dishes and glasses are afterward. It’s one of the first things dishwasher Singapore buyers notice. The EcoSilence Drive is designed with a brushless, energy-saving motor.
Another big selling point for this particular model? Its size. The compact Bosch dishwasher can sit on your countertop, or below the sink. I own this exact Miele dishwasher, and it’s one item in my kitchen I cannot live without. I’m a die-hard fan of the German brand. Personally, I find Miele appliances stand miles above the rest. If I’m recommending the very best dishwasher Singapore household-wise, I’d say go for this option. The Miele G 5000 SC Active is on the higher end of the cost spectrum, but I have had mine for over five years, and it’s still going strong. The money is well worth it when considering dishwasher price points. It has a two-year standard warranty, or you can extend this for either five or 10 years.
My favourite part about the Miele dishwasher is the various compartments. It comes with three “levels.” I stack my dishes and glassware on the bottom. The middle tray I use for all my glasses, mugs, cups, small ramekins, etc. Its left-hand side “spikes” are perfect for holding wine glasses or any other precious glassware. The third rack slides in at the top and is for cutlery. It even has a little compartment for chopsticks or specialty knives.
After a run, dishes are bright, clean, sparkly, and extra dry (thanks to an extended drying phase that many other dishwashers don’t have). It has various settings, including a time-saving QuickPowerWash programme set for 58 minutes.
I’m also a fan of how all-around energy efficient it is. For example, if you only have half a load to do, it’s not a waste. The Miele dishwasher has an automatic load sensor measuring how many dishes are inside. It then calculates how much water is required for that amount only. Save up to 35% on electricity. It’s 84,5cm (h) x 59,8cm (w) x 60cm (d), and doesn’t appear overbearingly large for apartment-type homes.
Enjoy eight washing settings, including pre-wash, eco, rapid 29’/45’, auto, hygiene+, boost, glass, and rinse. Other programs include intensive and single-basket washing. There’s also a half-load option. On the LED screen, it shows a salt light indicator, rinse aid light, end of cycle, digital countdown, and the various programmes. Compact dishwashers have become increasingly popular, especially in a country like Singapore, where most homes are apartments/condos. Just like the Electrolux EFC3862MS 55cm Compact Dishwasher, it fits snugly on a kitchen counter. With this particular brand, you also don’t feel like you’re having to compromise on dishwasher interior space either, as its width and depth are pretty similar to most freestanding dishwashers — the height is the only major difference.
There are two racks, and the upper one (where I’d put my glasses) also includes a separate cutlery basket. The salt funnel is also extra handy, as well as the delay start option from one hour up to 24.
An excellent option for energy-conscious consumers; how neat is this…It’s designed with AutoOpen technology. Once the load is near complete, the door automatically opens at a 27-degree angle during the drying phase, saving energy. The Toshiba 5L Portable Dishwasher is adorable. As the name implies, it’s completely portable, meaning it’s super convenient to take anywhere. Even though camping isn’t the most popular outdoor activity in SG, it’s still doable (and a great experience for the little ones) at places like Pasir Ris Park and East Coast Park. My husband’s family loves to camp, so trust me when I say I am a mega fan of a portable dishwasher!
Or perhaps you’re making a huge family meal at your in-laws, who don’t own a dishwasher? This portable Toshiba dishwasher is perfect to bring along. It’s great for a single household, too. In just 29 minutes, have your dinnerware, cutlery and glassware clean and good as new. Plus, not just limited to dishes, you can also wash your fruit and vegetables in it!
Is it your first time purchasing any sort of dishwasher? This one could turn out to be a good tester option as it’s well-priced. No breaking the bank either. For anyone who’s not the most tech/appliance savvy, there’s no installation required either, and the setup is truly hassle-free. The only thing you need to do is fill up its water tank (built in the back of the dishwasher), which beeps to let you know it’s full. It does have a water-inlet option, though, if you’d prefer to install it into the wall.

If you’re looking for a reliable and affordable free-standing dishwasher, the Beko DVN04X20W model is an excellent choice. It’s very well-priced among the best dishwashers in Singapore, and offers its users many great features. Time and time again, it’s highlighted as an Amazon’s Choice product, and consumers highly rate it. Made from stainless steel, this also gives it an elevated, expensive look.
I would also dub this particular model a good option for older folk who can’t be bothered with all the finicky bits and bobs that some dishwashers have, for example, smart settings/wifi-enabled/all-digital controls. The classic knob-dial makes it easy to understand and use.
The Beko DVN04X20W is extremely spacious within, and actually, it reminds me of the old-school Miele dishwashers, set-up-wise inside, even the rack design. It comes equipped with 13 place settings and a quick dry function. The four programs are Intensive 70, Eco 50, Mini and Quick & Shine. There’s also a half-load setting, as well as a time delay.
It has a 49 dB noise level, 2 ticks water efficiency, and a three-year local warranty.

Miele G 7360 C SCVi AutoDos, $4,449
Of the dishwasher built-in options, Miele is my go-to. I have a built-in Miele oven and stove, and not only do Miele kitchen appliances work like a champion, but look fabulous in any kitchen as well.
You’ll notice that the Miele G 7360 C SCVi AutoDos has no display details on the front of the door, only a stainless steel handle. With this model, the touch buttons are designed on the inside, on the top of the door as you open it and pull it down. It’s an extra appeal for homeowners after a minimalist kitchen aesthetic.
Now, while some dishwashers claim to be silent, this one truly is, with a noise level of just 37 dB(A). Anything below 40, you won’t hear a peep. It’s no-noise camouflages even further. Is it cheaper to wash dishes or use a dishwasher?
In Singapore, whether it’s cheaper to wash dishes by hand or use a dishwasher depends on several factors, including water and electricity costs, appliance efficiency, and household habits.

Singapore’s water prices, at roughly $2.74 per cubic metre (as of recent years), mean that over time, the savings from using less water can add up.

However, electricity rates in Singapore, while not the lowest, are relatively stable and predictable for most HDB and condo dwellers.
