Of all my heavy-duty appliances, my dishwasher is one thing I cannot live without. Growing up, we never had one, and the moment my husband and I bought our first home together, our dishwasher was one of our first major appliance purchases. I own a Miele, and don’t regret my choice for a second. I always believe in spending more on quality, saving you in the long run. However, we all have our preferences.

Believe it or not, the first mechanical type of dishwasher dates to the 1850s in the USA. Yet the first dishwasher with an electronic motor was in Europe circa 1929. And get this, it was invented by none other than Miele! I’ll let that sink in for a little while…

Nowadays, dishwashers have come a long way, keeping up with the times of latest technologies. Some are even powered by smartphone apps or voice controls. You’ll discover a range of dishwashers on the market, from complete LED screen functions to the traditional button type.

If it’s your first time buy, you might want to consider a more cost-effective option. Or, another type of dishwasher that’s become increasingly popular is the compact dishwasher — small enough to fit on your countertop. These are especially great for small households, whether talking perimeter space size or people. For those who swore they’d never own a dishwasher, these compact options are great test models.

A dishwasher price isn’t the cheapest, and there are multiple things to consider. With that, here’s a comprehensive list for choosing the best dishwasher Singapore side, ranging from brands such as Bosch, Miele, LG, Brandt, and more. It also includes a variety of dishwashers from freestanding to compact to dishwasher built-in models.

Every Singaporean is familiar with the Bosch brand; it’s one of the most popular appliance namesakes across households. The strong market contender has regional headquarters in Singapore, and it’s appreciated for its good after-sales service.

If you’ve always wanted a Bosch but were intimidated by the price, the SMS2IVW01P from the Series 2 range is your entry point. While affordable, it doesn’t skimp on the brand’s signature “Home Connect” technology, allowing you to monitor and control your dishwasher via your smartphone.

It also features the “EcoSilence Drive” motor, which is exceptionally quiet—a major plus for open-concept HDB layouts where you don’t want the drone of a machine drowning out your television.

Miele Freestanding dishwashers SILVER G 5000 C SC Active Brilliant White

Miele Freestanding dishwashers SILVER G 5000 C SC Active Brilliant White

Miele G 5000 C SC Active, $2,099

I own this exact Miele dishwasher, and it’s one item in my kitchen I cannot live without. I’m a die-hard fan of the German brand. Personally, I find Miele appliances stand miles above the rest. If I’m recommending the very best dishwasher Singapore household-wise, I’d say go for this option. The Miele G 5000 SC Active is on the higher end of the cost spectrum, but I have had mine for over five years, and it’s still going strong. The money is well worth it when considering dishwasher price points. It has a two-year standard warranty, or you can extend this for either five or 10 years.

My favourite part about the Miele dishwasher is the various compartments. It comes with three “levels.” I stack my dishes and glassware on the bottom. The middle tray I use for all my glasses, mugs, cups, small ramekins, etc. Its left-hand side “spikes” are perfect for holding wine glasses or any other precious glassware. The third rack slides in at the top and is for cutlery. It even has a little compartment for chopsticks or specialty knives.

After a run, dishes are bright, clean, sparkly, and extra dry (thanks to an extended drying phase that many other dishwashers don’t have). It has various settings, including a time-saving QuickPowerWash programme set for 58 minutes.

I’m also a fan of how all-around energy efficient it is. For example, if you only have half a load to do, it’s not a waste. The Miele dishwasher has an automatic load sensor measuring how many dishes are inside. It then calculates how much water is required for that amount only. Save up to 35% on electricity. Or select the ECO programme for full loads, where water consumption is reduced to 8.4 litres and energy consumption is reduced to 0.29 kWh.

Miele G 5000 C SC Active is priced at $2,099 from Miele.

LG Front Control Dishwasher DFC533FV Smart Wi-fi Enabled, $1,194

The IG dishwasher is another popular option among Singaporean households. This is because LG has been tried and tested for decades, so consumers feel like it’s a brand they can trust, and one that delivers on quality and innovation.

There’s loads to love about this particular LG Front Control Dishwasher, including the fact that it is wifi-enabled! Not just that, but its silver appearance is sleek and slender, looking pretty in any kitchen. Plus, monitor and take control of each load via the Wi-Fi-enabled LG ThinQ™ app. Download new wash cycle presets and customise your dishwasher to your exact liking!

The personalisations don’t end there, and the EasyRack™ Plus means you can adjust the height of the upper rack. This LG dishwasher also has a third rack for cutlery.

Using pure steam, its TrueSteam® feature means no need for pre-soaking. It breaks down foods and eliminates up to 30% of water spots. Its QuadWash™ technology ensures a multi-directional deep clean, and selects different pressure levels for each rack of the dishwasher. For example, modify the individual water intensity on the upper or lower racks separately.

It has an energy efficiency of four ticks, and power consumption is 1600W–1800W.

Brandt 60CM Silver Free Standing Dishwasher

Brandt 60CM Silver Free Standing Dishwasher

Brandt 60CM Silver Free Standing Dishwasher, $1,080

The Brandt dishwasher is a French brand, and it’s another popular choice among Singaporean households. This fashionable Inox silver freestanding model is modern, and all of the functions and dial modes are displayed on a top LED screen.

It’s 84,5cm (h) x 59,8cm (w) x 60cm (d), and doesn’t appear overbearingly large for apartment-type homes.

Enjoy eight washing settings, including pre-wash, eco, rapid 29’/45’, auto, hygiene+, boost, glass, and rinse. Other programs include intensive and single-basket washing. There’s also a half-load option. On the LED screen, it shows a salt light indicator, rinse aid light, end of cycle, digital countdown, and the various programmes. When a cycle is finished, it indicates this with a buzzer. Wash cycle temperatures range from 45°C to 70°C, and I love that this dishwasher has a preset delay start time of up to 24 hours.

The rack is foldable, and you’re able to adjust the height of the upper basket. Total power for connections is 1930 W.

Electrolux 55cm Compact Dishwasher

Electrolux 55cm Compact Dishwasher

Electrolux 55cm Compact Dishwasher, $548

Compact dishwashers have become increasingly popular, especially in a country like Singapore, where most homes are apartments/condos. Just like the Electrolux EFC3862MS 55cm Compact Dishwasher, it fits snugly on a kitchen counter. With this particular brand, you also don’t feel like you’re having to compromise on dishwasher interior space either, as its width and depth are pretty similar to most freestanding dishwashers — the height is the only major difference.

There are two racks, and the upper one (where I’d put my glasses) also includes a separate cutlery basket. The salt funnel is also extra handy, as well as the delay start option from one hour up to 24.

An excellent option for energy-conscious consumers; how neat is this…It’s designed with AutoOpen technology. Once the load is near complete, the door automatically opens at a 27-degree angle during the drying phase, saving energy. Its total wattage is 1380-1620 W, and when using the eco program, water consumption clocks in at eight litres.

Programs to choose from are eco, normal, quick, delicate, hygiene, machine care and pre-rinse.

Electrolux EFC3862MS 55cm Compact Dishwasher is priced at $548 from Shopee and Lazada.

Toshiba 5L Portable Dishwasher

Toshiba 5L Portable Dishwasher

Toshiba 5L Portable Dishwasher, $359

The Toshiba 5L Portable Dishwasher is adorable. As the name implies, it’s completely portable, meaning it’s super convenient to take anywhere. Even though camping isn’t the most popular outdoor activity in SG, it’s still doable (and a great experience for the little ones) at places like Pasir Ris Park and East Coast Park. My husband’s family loves to camp, so trust me when I say I am a mega fan of a portable dishwasher!

Or perhaps you’re making a huge family meal at your in-laws, who don’t own a dishwasher? This portable Toshiba dishwasher is perfect to bring along. It’s great for a single household, too. In just 29 minutes, have your dinnerware, cutlery and glassware clean and good as new. Plus, not just limited to dishes, you can also wash your fruit and vegetables in it!

Is it your first time purchasing any sort of dishwasher? This one could turn out to be a good tester option as it’s well-priced. No breaking the bank either. For anyone who’s not the most tech/appliance savvy, there’s no installation required either, and the setup is truly hassle-free. The only thing you need to do is fill up its water tank (built in the back of the dishwasher), which beeps to let you know it’s full. It does have a water-inlet option, though, if you’d prefer to install it into the wall.

Specs-wise, it has a total capacity of five litres. Its dimensions are 43.5cm (h) x 43.5cm (w) x 42cm (d).

Toshiba 5L Portable Dishwasher is priced at $359 from Lazada and Shopee.

Beko 14 Place Settings Freestanding Dishwasher BDFN26430X

Beko 14 Place Settings Freestanding Dishwasher BDFN26430X, $855

The Beko BDFN26430X is an exceptional high-capacity option for Singaporean households, offering 14 place settings and a sleek Pearl Inox finish that resists fingerprints. Its standout feature is the SelfDry technology, which automatically pops the door open at the end of a cycle to allow steam to escape, significantly improving drying results on plastics and glassware. The interior is thoughtfully designed for local cooking habits, featuring a sliding cutlery basket and foldable plate supports that easily accommodate deep soup bowls and bulky woks.

Performance-wise, this model is both efficient and hygienic, boasting a 3-tick WELS rating for water conservation and a specialized HygieneIntense programme that eliminates 99.99% of bacteria using high-temperature washes. While its 47 dBA noise level is slightly louder than some ultra-premium competitors, it remains quiet enough for open-plan HDB layouts. For its price point, it provides an impressive balance of advanced drying tech and flexible loading, making it one of the most practical “bang-for-your-buck” appliances currently available in the local market.

Miele G 7360 C SCVi AutoDos, $4,449

Of the dishwasher built-in options, Miele is my go-to. I have a built-in Miele oven and stove, and not only do Miele kitchen appliances work like a champion, but look fabulous in any kitchen as well.

You’ll notice that the Miele G 7360 C SCVi AutoDos has no display details on the front of the door, only a stainless steel handle. With this model, the touch buttons are designed on the inside, on the top of the door as you open it and pull it down. It’s an extra appeal for homeowners after a minimalist kitchen aesthetic.

Now, while some dishwashers claim to be silent, this one truly is, with a noise level of just 37 dB(A). Anything below 40, you won’t hear a peep. It’s no-noise camouflages even further. This model is truly designed for modern households. The Miele@home system means controlling the dishwasher via an app, voice control, or integrating it into your smart home system. Once your load is complete, the door automatically opens a touch for extra drying functions.

Another bonus is the FlexCare cup rack, where you can place cups on top, creating more space. Use the QuickPowerWash for a super quick hour-long load. It comes with a two-year warranty, which can be extended by five or ten years.

Miele G 7360 C SCVi AutoDos is priced at $4,449 from Harvey Norman.

Elba 60cm Dishwasher, $744

Considering the best dishwasher Singapore brands, the Elba is one of the most water-efficient, with 4 ticks! This Elba Ebdw1481mwh 60cm dishwasher price is also a great benchmark, and I would say sits at middle range, or just below, meaning it’s an affordable option.

Hailing from Italy, it comes with a two-year warranty. The Innowash 360° Water Spray System ensures contents are extra clean.

Choose between eight wash programmes: Intensive, Eco, Normal, Auto, 90Mins, Glass, Rapid, and Soak. If you don’t have many glasses and dishes to fill the dishwasher, opt for its half-load function. Maintenance-wise, the Rinse Aid Indicator and Salt Indicator make it easy to tell when things need cleaning. There are no buttons, only an LED display.

The Elba Ebdw1481mwh contains an adjustable upper basket, as well as an Infinity Plus cutlery drawer. I always prefer a cutlery drawer to a basket. Its dimensions are 845mm (height) x 598mm (width) x 610mm (depth).

Is it cheaper to wash dishes or use a dishwasher?

In Singapore, whether it’s cheaper to wash dishes by hand or use a dishwasher depends on several factors, including water and electricity costs, appliance efficiency, and household habits.

Generally speaking, modern dishwashers are quite energy- and water-efficient, particularly when run on eco modes and only when fully loaded. In fact, many newer dishwashers use less water than washing by hand—some models use as little as 9–12 litres per cycle, compared to handwashing which can easily consume 20–30 litres, especially if the tap is left running. Singapore’s water prices, at roughly $2.74 per cubic metre (as of recent years), mean that over time, the savings from using less water can add up.

Electricity is a factor too. Dishwashers do consume power, particularly during the heating and drying phases. However, electricity rates in Singapore, while not the lowest, are relatively stable and predictable for most HDB and condo dwellers. Running a dishwasher once a day or every other day may cost less than 30 cents per cycle, depending on the model and energy efficiency rating.

That said, the upfront cost of purchasing a dishwasher and its maintenance can be significant. Many homes in Singapore—especially smaller flats—also have limited space, and dishwashers aren’t yet a standard fixture. For smaller households or those who don’t cook often, handwashing may still be more practical and cost-effective overall, especially if water use is kept minimal and done efficiently.

Is it worth buying a cheap dishwasher?

Buying a cheap dishwasher in Singapore can be worth it, but only under certain conditions. While the lower upfront cost may seem appealing—especially given the relatively high price of appliances in general—it’s important to weigh this against long-term considerations such as energy and water efficiency, durability, and performance.

Many budget-friendly dishwashers tend to have fewer features, smaller capacities, and may be less efficient in water and electricity usage. In Singapore, where utility costs and space are key concerns, this could end up costing more in the long run if the appliance isn’t energy- or water-efficient. For instance, cheaper models may lack eco modes or have longer wash cycles that consume more resources. Also, if repairs are needed, replacement parts for lesser-known brands may be harder to come by or more expensive, reducing the lifespan of the machine.

On the other hand, if you’re a small household or don’t wash a large number of dishes daily, a compact and affordable dishwasher may still serve your needs well. Several entry-level models available in Singapore are designed for countertop use, making them suitable for HDB flats or small kitchens. Brands like Xiaomi, EuropAce, and Toshiba offer relatively inexpensive options that have gained popularity for their convenience and decent performance at lower price points.

Ultimately, it comes down to balancing your budget, kitchen space, and expectations. If you’re willing to trade off a few premium features and can accept slightly longer or louder wash cycles, a cheap dishwasher might be a worthwhile investment—especially if you dread handwashing or entertain regularly. Just be sure to check local reviews and consider energy and water consumption before purchasing, so you don’t end up paying more in running costs over time.
