This will suit you if you prefer a massive hanging capacity (up to 3 loads of laundry) and professional-grade German motor.

However, the sheer size of the 8-pole system may feel overwhelming in smaller 2-room or 3-room BTO yards.

Xiaomi (Mijia) Smart Clothes Dryer 1S, $309

The Mijia 1S is the undisputed king of the budget-smart segment. It features a telescopic crossbar and a $35$kg load capacity, all controlled via the highly popular Mi Home app.

This is excellent value for money, and comes with effortless integration into your existing Xiaomi smart home system. However, warranty is usually limited to 1 year and it lacks the advanced “Solar” heating of local brands.

Varlux YH Series, $975

Varlux’s latest YH Series is their most advanced model to date, featuring a reinforced dual-scissor frame for maximum stability even when unevenly loaded.

This will suit you if you have lots of laundry and require industrial-strength build quality and very effective UVC disinfection lamps.

However, don’t get this if you’re big on remote mobile app control. The mobile app interface is less polished than those of Steigen or Xiaomi.

The Varlux YH Series electric laundry drying rack is priced at $975 on Varlux.

Philips Smart Drying Rack SDR703 (Voice Control), $1,159

The Philips SDR703 electric laundry drying rack represents Philips’ entry into the voice-activated market. It features a high-performance DC motor that is significantly quieter than previous generations, operating below 55dB.

This is excellent if you have allergies - a “mite repeller” that uses ultrasonic waves will come in handy. Also, parents may love it for its advanced child-safety features and quiet operation.

However, this electric laundry rack is more expensive - you pay a significant “brand premium” for the Philips name.

Eazea EasyDry Pro, $688

Eazea’s latest EasyDry Pro focuses on fabric care. It uses a specialised low-temperature heat mode to prevent shrinking in delicate clothes, paired with a plasma ioniser to keep the air fresh.

This electric laundry drying rack is gentle on delicate fabrics; effectively removes the “damp smell” associated with indoor drying. However, the installation can be slightly more complex due to the specific wiring for the ioniser.

Eazea EasyDry Pro electric laundry drying rack is priced at $688 from Eazea.

Nereos’ latest K4 model is frequently sold as part of their “Smart Home” bundles. It is a reliable all-rounder that features a double scissor arm and a high-load bearing capacity of 45kg.

You get great value for money when you buy this in a bundle with digital locks or water purifiers. However, it lacks some of the ultra-high-end “Solar” tech found in Steigen.

Nereos K4 Automated Rack electric laundry drying rack is priced at $499 from Nereos.
