It’s no secret that Singaporeans favour high-quality appliances, and Miele is one of them. Yet, how to pronounce Miele? ‘Miele’ is pronounced as = MEE-uh-luh.

For those who enjoy watching any realtor-based reality shows, you might notice that these million, sometimes even billion-dollar houses are all decked out with Miele appliances and furnishings, whether it’s a stove, fridge or dishwasher — and for good reason.

Over 120 years old, Miele was founded in 1899 in Germany (by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann). The brand, much like other German brands (hello, BMW), has always placed a huge emphasis on durability, sustainability, and being top pioneers in innovative technology. For example, most Miele appliances are operated by the Miele@home app — it’s the small details that count. Not just this, all Miele products come with a standard two-year warranty. However, this can be extended up to five or ten years.

If I had the choice to deck out my entire home in Miele, I would. For now, I have a few appliances, including the dishwasher, stove and oven. It is a very expensive brand, but very much worth it, especially for proud homeowners and those who actually utilise theirs.

The higher price range is well worth it in my opinion. Every single one of my Miele products has outlived other brands. My friends constantly complain about a broken dishwasher or an oven element that has burnt out. My Miele appliances perform better and faster. The only downside is that repairs and callouts are expensive, but it’s like that with any fancy brand. It’s a small price to pay for perfection.

Here’s a guide to the best and most popular Miele Singapore appliances for your home.

Miele Dishwasher G 5000 C SC Active, $1,919

Out of all of the Miele Singapore appliances, the Miele dishwasher is one of the most popular choices for local consumers. Not just from Miele’s list of appliances, but in the dishwasher world, too.

I own the G 500 C SC Active, and now that I have it, I cannot imagine life without it. Some might think it’s just a dishwasher, but it’s so much more. I love to entertain, and my Miele dishwasher saves me time and effort post-hosting. There’s nothing worse than loading your dishwasher only to realise afterward it hasn’t cleaned some plates or cutlery properly. You then have to manually rewash, wasting more water.

Unlike many standard dishwashers, one of my best features of the Miele is the uppermost drawer for cutlery, including a compartment for chopsticks. Often when I’m over at a friend’s or my in-laws and helping to load the dishwasher, it’s one of the first things I notice — other brands simply have a cutlery basket. I love that the drawer has individual sections and that I can lay my cutlery out flat!

Choose between multiple wash settings, including an economical one-hour QuickPowerWash. It also has extra clean and extra dry options. I must say, my dishes are always dry after a load. I unpack straight into the cupboards. The ComfortClose door means the door is easy to open or close. It stays ajar, however you leave it, not flopping back down. Thanks to the Miele hot water connection, save up to 50% on electricity.

Miele Washing Machine WWG660 WCS 9kg, $2,829

I simply cannot get enough of how well Miele cleans compared to other brands, whether talking about dishes or clothes. The Miele washing machine is a powerhouse. My husband’s clothes are constantly full of stains — men… He loves to cook, but one toss in our Miele washing machine and most of the stains come out (unless it’s a real stubborn one like oil).

This front-loader can hold up to 9kgs. I prefer a front-loader to a top-loader; I find it more economical. Speaking of, listed as class A, you save in the energy efficiency department. The machine’s automatic load recognition personalises each load you do. From here, it only uses the exact amount of electricity or water needed for that specific cycle.

Nothing drives me crazier than creased clothing. This Miele washing machine is designed with a pre-ironing steam feature! It reduces wrinkles, creating up to 50% less ironing. I’ll take that any day.

There’s nothing worse than a washing machine that rumbles and shakes (if overloaded). Mine never makes a peep, unlike my previous machine.

Miele Classic C1 PowerLine - SBAF3 Vacuum, $338

(Original price $369, 7% discount)

Available in a fashionable white colour, the Miele C1 vacuum cleaner is cylindrically-shaped and boasts a super high suction power of 900W. You’d never expect such a powerhouse to be so light, weighing just 5.8kg (including all the vacuuming accessories).

With a nine metre operating radius, floors and surfaces feel spick and span afterward.

This model is well-priced for what you get. It’s equipped with an upholstery nozzle, a crevice nozzle (for small spaces), a dusting brush with synthetic bristles, a floorhead, and an AirClean filter. These are stored within the appliance — how neat?!

The Floorhead, suction tube and handle lock into each other in one secure click, and disassemble with the click of a button. It also has a six-stage rotary selector, an XXL ergonomic carrying handle, a Comfort Compact telescopic suction tube, and a park system for pauses during vacuuming.

Miele Oven H 7164 BP, $6,000

I am an avid cook, and my Miele oven is a game-changer.

One word of advice I can give: Miele ovens are super powerful. Whenever I am following a recipe, I will always lower my degrees by one less than what is prescribed. For example, if a recipe says to bake at 180°C, I bake at 170°C. Also, due to its power, my food cooks to exact timings, especially if I am baking.

The Miele@home app is especially handy when multitasking. Forget about ever burning your food again. Plus, how neat is this feature…The automatic Moisture plus function creates particularly light doughs and a perfect crust when you’re baking bread.

Its look is sleek and modern, with clear text display and DirectSensor S controls. This includes automatic programmes. I also love how easy it is to clean my Miele oven. This is thanks to the model’s Pyrolytic cleaning.

Buyer’s tip: Another Miele Oven to think about is the convenient (and contemporary) H 7240 BM Microwave Combination Ovens.

Miele Fridge-Freezer KFNS 7795 D, $9,800

For those who live in an HDB, the Miele Fridge Freezer is an ideal size. Perfectly compact for the majority of Singaporean homes, the freezer is below the fridge area, and so it doesn’t take up loads of space with a double door. It’s 559mm wide x 1770mm high.

Designed with an IceMaker, technically, you’re getting a three-in-one. If you live in a larger, freestanding home, perhaps consider this sleek model for your bar area instead.

Not only does it look great, but it functions really well, and most importantly, preserves and stores food to perfection. Equipped with a PerfectFresh Active feature, this keeps produce fresh for five times longer because of its active humidification. Also, say goodbye to icy foods, or having to defrost your freezer with the help of the automatic NoFrost. Another cool function is the DynaCool — a uniform temperature distribution throughout the fridge/freezer.

Both the inner door shelves (dishwasher-safe, FYI) and the glass shelves (illuminated with FlexiLight 2.0) are adjustable. This totals four shelves, two crisper drawers, one inner door rack for tinned food, and one door rack for bottles. It also includes three different temperature zones: Sabbath, Party and Holiday Modes.

Miele Tumble Dryer TWF760WP, $2,629

As clichéd as it may sound, Miele appliances really do just take things to another level. For example, the Miele Tumble Dryer EcoSpeed. You’d think all tumble dryers did a simple job: dry your clothes. However, you can see a noticeable difference in the texture of your clothing after using the Miele tumble dryer. Clothes are still soft, and don’t get super crumpled and crinkled.

While some Singaporeans may be on the fence about a tumble dryer because clothes dry super fast in the country’s hot temperatures, there are a few reasons to own one. Forget about colours fading from direct sunlight, and not all of us are afforded the luxury of an outdoor space/patio/terrace. I detest hanging my clothes over a balcony to dry, or leaving them on a drying rack inside. Plus, if you have newborns or babies, a tumble dryer is a must. We all know how quickly babies go through clothes in a day.

This specific model is designed with an EcoSpeed, and clothes dry 20 minutes faster! I also love the smell of my clothes after a cycle, thanks to the built-in FragranceDos². It also offers a nifty DryCare 40, which is designed for an average 40°C wash.

Weighing just eight kilograms, other useful specs to know include the T1 heat-pump dryer. Its signature EcoDry technology means low energy consumption, too. It’s also built with a protective filter over the heat exchanger, which doesn’t need constant cleaning. Lastly, the HygieneDry feature removes up to 99.99 % of bacteria and viruses.

Miele Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner Triflex HX2 Cat & Dog, $974

(Original price $1,299, 25% discount)

I have three fur children (and big dogs at that), and so the dog hairs in my home are endless. No matter how often I sweep or vacuum, the very next day, they’re back. But I can’t blame my doggos. That’s why the Triflex HX2 Cat & Dog Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is so appealing to me.

I often use my vacuum to sweep off the stubborn hairs from my sofa and bed headboard. I particularly enjoy this stick vacuum cleaner’s build. The operational motor is placed at the top, so the stick can really get under low surfaces. Or, if you don’t need the suction tube and Electrobrush, remove and use the solo PowerUnit only. The extra-wide brush also lights up so you can see the fine hairs or crumbs hiding in dark spaces.

Equipped with a battery, you can clean for up to an hour with a single charge. Its Maintenance-free HEPA lifetime filter ensures it picks up 99.999% of dust particles.

By the way, if you are an allergy sufferer, you might want to consider the Miele C3 Allergy PowerLine vacuum cleaner.

Miele CM 5510 Silence Rose Gold Pearl Finish Countertop Coffee Machine, $1,667

Miele’s home and kitchen appliances are not limited to the cleaning type. For serious coffee drinkers, the Miele Countertop Coffee Machine makes a mean cuppa, and you’ll feel like a professional barista whilst using it.

Available in the prettiest rose gold, this makes it sort of a standout feature in the kitchen, too, and not just a chunky black or silver countertop appliance. Setting itself apart from the rest of the coffee pack in more ways than one, another cool feature is that you can make/pour two coffees at once with its double OneTouch for Two system.

I don’t know about you, but I love strong coffee. Brands like Starbucks don’t cut it for me, and are too weak. With the machine’s AromaticSystem, this produces an intense coffee flavour, whether it’s a ristretto, espresso, cappuccino, latte, or macchiato (single or double shot). Not limited to just coffee, you can select just hot water for a cup of tea or hot chocolate, etc. Size-wise, the smallest cup is 20 ml and largest is 300 ml.

It comes with a grinder, brew unit and pump, and certain parts like the water and waste containers are dishwasher-safe. Different modes include an energy-saving option, and you can program your precise amount of coffee, water, milk, milk froth, water temperature and pre-brew.

Lastly, I appreciate how silently the machine operates. As much as I love my Nespresso, it’s a little noisy.

Miele Gas Hob KM 3014 G, $4,200

If you’re tossing up between an induction or a gas hob, a gas hob is naturally more energy-efficient (as it’s only gas you’re using). I have both a Miele induction hob and a gas stove. I’d say the gas stove heats pots/pans and cooks food twice as fast as the induction hob.

(Having said that, the Miele Gas Hob is as powerful as ever, and I adore mine. My husband enjoys cooking on gas, I prefer the induction hob. But this is because it’s Miele, meaning my food cooks faster than other branded hobs.)

There is also the option to purchase a two-in-one, i.e., a Miele combi set combining both gas and induction.

Back to the Miele Gas Hob KM 3014 G. This one includes three burners, including one dual wok plate. If worried about safety issues, it is manufactured with a GasStop function. On the flip side, if the flame goes out from overboiling water, it boasts an automatic reignition flame. For added safety measures, it can also automatically turn off the gas supply. No lighter or match is required to ignite the gas flame, instead, it comprises electronic ignition.

It’s designed with easy-to-use rotary dial controls. The ComfortClean pot rests are dishwasher-friendly.

Miele Gas Hob KM 3014 G is priced at $4,200 from Miele.

Miele Scout RX3, $1,072

(Original price $1,319.00, 19% discount)

The Miele dishwasher and the Miele vacuum are the most popular Miele Singapore products. Especially when it comes to vacuums, we all have a personal preference. For example, you might prefer a long-handled model, a more compact, standard bag vacuum, or, if you’re a modernist, a robot vacuum cleaner. The latter has become increasingly popular in recent years, especially for homeowners who live in apartments or smaller spaces. Robot vacuums can even clean your office space.

Miele’s Scout RX3 is app-controlled and works like a wizard, taking out all the hand-held work. You don’t even need to be around for it to work because of the Miele Scout app, and it automatically cleans a floor space of up to 70m² on its own using its systematic cleaning 3D smart navigation. This includes two front cameras with 3D object detection intelligence. At the same time, it reaches hard to get corners with its Corner Brush feature. Thanks to its size and shape, it easily slides under beds, sofas, etc. It works for 85 minutes before it needs to be recharged.

Worried about damaging furniture? Miele thinks of everything. Case in point, the robot vacuum’s built-in Furniture Protection Technology. Quattro Cleaning Power technology tackles tiny dust particles using the AirClean Plus filter. It is suitable for carpets, wooden and hard-surface floors, and includes a four-stage cleaning system with four cleaning modes.

Miele Scout RX3 is priced at $1,319 from Amazon.
