Once you convert from a handheld mixer to a stand mixer, there’s no turning back. Eliminating the heavy-duty work, all with the whizz of a button or two, removing the part where you have to hold a hand mixer for however long (which can sometimes lead to aching arms).

From the super fancy-schmancy stand mixer, designed for any aspiring baker, to the best affordable stand mixer that does the job, there are many fantastic options on the market for the best stand mixer.

Is it worth it to buy a stand mixer?

Yes, it is worth buying a stand mixer if you’re a frequent home cook or baker. These best stand mixer brands serve both sweet and savoury needs, whether it’s for whipping up a soft cake mixture, bread dough, mixture for bao buns, or that for dumplings.

Depending on your needs, you can opt for a stand mixer that comes with all the bells and whistles, like ones with extra accessories and attachments. This means not only is the appliance a stand mixer, but it’s a kitchen superhero. For example, certain brands have stand mixers with attachments like ice cream makers, meat grinders, and pasta makers/cutters!

My stand mixer is one of my most versatile appliances. The top of the range is KitchenAid, but this list comprises a variety of the most popular stand mixer brands and models.

How do I choose a stand mixer?

When choosing a stand mixer in Singapore, consider your baking habits, kitchen space, and budget. Look for a model with a powerful motor (ideally above 300 watts) if you plan to knead dough or mix heavy batters regularly. Capacity matters too—4 to 5 litres suits most home bakers, while larger households or baking enthusiasts may prefer 6 litres and above.

Tilt-head designs are more compact for smaller kitchens, while bowl-lift models offer added stability. Popular and reliable brands available locally include KitchenAid, Kenwood, and Mayer. Lastly, check if local retailers provide warranty support and whether accessories like dough hooks or whisk attachments are included.

From KitchenAid to Kenwood to Philips, we’re rounding up ten of these multi-purpose kitchen appliances.

Best stand mixer overall

When it comes to the crème de la crème for the best stand mixer, the KitchenAid stand mixer takes the cake. It’s like the Rolls-Royce of stand mixers. This iconic brand has been a professional baker’s best friend for decades, and the best in business, like Nigella Lawson, favour this brand over others. If ever you’re watching baking shows, like The Great British Bake Off, you’ll spot this brand glistening in the tent. It’s excellent for heavy-duty baking.

The KitchenAid Series 5 Stand Mixer does the most for both the sweet and savoury departments. It’s no surprise that it’s a KitchenAid stand mixer bestseller.

Designed with 10 speed settings, feel like you’re in total control of things. It’s great for kneading dough, mixing ingredients, or whipping up cream, etc. The mixer arrives with three standard tool heads: a dough hook, balloon whisk, and a flat beater. However, one of my favourite things about the KitchenAid stand mixer is that you can attach a multitude of other KitchenAid accessories to the primary input, making it multi-purpose. This includes a pasta-maker and an ice-cream maker. So you’re getting a lot out of one single machine.

Noise level is 52dB, and wattage is 300. The removable stainless steel bowl is 4.8 litres and has a capacity of 5 Quartz.

Kenwood Go Stand Mixer, $499

Most powerful stand mixer

In terms of competitors against the KitchenAid brand, the stand mixer Kenwood brand is a great alternative. Considered middle to high range price-wise, some prefer Kenwood over KitchenAid because of its power. For example, the Go model is 800 watts.

It feels sturdy thanks to its all-metal body, and the sexy Storm Blue colour looks fabulous in any kitchen. Standout features that I love about this best stand mixer are the integrated measuring spoon (how convenient) and its rotatable splash guard lid, stopping any unwanted mess from happening. There’s nothing worse than mixing powders, like flour, with liquid, and the moment you start whizzing, flour flies through the air and over the mixer bowl.

A coated aluminium dough tool, whisk, and K-beater are its tools, and these are height-adjustable — how clever? The speed control is designed on top of the machine along the handle (which is easy to carry). Bowl capacity is four litres.

Smeg 50’s Retro Style Stand Mixer, $528

Best stand mixer for new bakers

I’m 100% guilty of being a Smeg snob (and a proud one at that). Most of my wedding registry contained Smeg appliances, adding to my already extensive and beloved collection. When you’ve been using a brand forever and know its quality, why change?

Not only does the Smeg Stand Mixer give off the brand’s iconic retro-looking vibes, but it’s another powerhouse! And of course, it’s available in Smeg’s classic colour range. It comes with a stainless steel wire whisk, an aluminium flat beater, and an aluminium dough hook.

Buyer’s tip: Like many Smeg products, the colour you choose influences and alters the price.

Any avid young bakers in the house? I appreciate this stand mixer’s automatic cut-off function. If the head is lifted whilst the appliance is still running, it instantly switches off, providing safety for little hands.

Similar to the KitchenAid stand mixer, the Smeg stand mixer has a front port for extra accessories, including multi-food grinders, slicers, graters, and a pasta maker. Bowl capacity is a nice 4.8 litres, it has 10 adjustable speeds with a soft start, it’s 800 watts, and has a 220 to 240V rating, as well as a two-year warranty.

Smeg SMF02CRUK, 50’s Retro Style Stand Mixer is priced at $898 from Lazada and Shopee.

Bosch Series 2 Kitchen Machine MUM, $649

Best stand mixer for bread dough

If dough is your Happy Place, consider purchasing the Bosch Series 2, designed with special and innovative 3D Planetary Mixing. The function imitates the real-life kneading movement of our hands.

I love anything dough-related, whether it’s pasta or bread. I always prefer to knead by hand, even though my stand mixer has this function. I’ve always been hesitant as to how well it does the job — with my hands, I can feel how the dough is coming along. But with this feature, I’d feel comfortable letting the stand mixer take over the job.

Available in two colours (white or red), the stainless steel bowl is 3.8 litres (withstanding two kilograms of ingredients), and it arrives with a dishwasher-safe patisserie set, including a whisk, stirrer, and kneading hook.

Discover the four speed settings located on the side of the machine via a turn-dial. Another one of the reasons why I love the Bosch stand mixer is because of its more square-shaped, abstract design. You can purchase extra accessories for it, too, like a mini food processor.

KitchenAid 5.5 Quart Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer, $1,259

Best bowl life stand mixer

Straight off the bat, how nifty is the KitchenAid Bowl Lift Stand Mixer?! For me, this just elevates the baking and cooking experience to new levels. I’m obsessed with this no-touching bowl, and it gives things an extra modern touch.

Not only that, but the lifted bowl ensures that every last inch of mixture is captured, with accessory attachments reaching the very bottom of the bowl. How annoying is it when you have to stop and start a stand mixer just to scrape up all the leftover dry ingredients and physically mix them with the wet components?

The price difference between the KitchenAid bowl lift and the tilt head isn’t just because the bowl lifts, but this model has two times more power. Shave ice and meat grinder attachments can be added to this model, as well as other accessories like a peel core, slicer, and an ice cream maker.

Choose between 11 speed levels, including half speed. The glistening polished bowl has a side handle for easy carrying. It comes with a white coated spiral dough hook and flat beater, as well as a six-wire metal whip. Wattage is 375 W, and power usage is 220 to 240 V. Enjoy a one-year warranty.

Kenwood Titanium Chef Baker, $888

Best stand mixer with scale

Crafted with every baking need in mind (there’s a reason it’s titled the Chef Baker model), my favourite feature of the Kenwood stand mixer is the built-in EasyWeigh Scales, integrated on the side of the mixer. What an advantage; measuring ingredients directly into the bowl! Say goodbye to a sinkful of dishes afterward.

The niceties don’t end there. Not just one, but it comes equipped with a second mixing 5-litre Nesting DuoBowl, which neatly sits on top of the actual 7-litre EasyWarm stand mixer bowl. Tools include a stainless steel K beater, a spiral dough tool, a whisk, and a creaming beater. However, Kenwood also has extra attachments, of which 25 fit and work with this model.

Planetary mixing covers ensure an even mix, and there are ten speeds. It boasts a digitally controlled 1200W ChefMotor.

Also, how great is this? The top cover is interchangeable, with eight PopTops to choose from. Get more baking and cooking inspiration via the Kenwood World App, and this stand mixer has a two-year warranty.

Philips 7000 Series Kitchen Machines, $199

Best beginner stand mixer

The Philips stand mixer is one of the best affordable stand mixers on the market. Is it your first time purchasing a stand mixer, or are you only getting into the baking game now? It’s an excellent option for testing stand mixers, without spending too much on an appliance you might be unsure of.

It arrives with everything you need: 12 speed settings, a powerful motor of 800W, and four accessories (including a whisk, dough hook, beater, and a splash guard for no mess). Use it for savory recipes and making desserts, cakes, doughs, and icings.

This stand mixer has a very large stainless steel bowl compared to other stand mixers available in Singapore: five litres.

Simple stand mixer

Russell Taylors has become increasingly popular among Singaporean households. Price points are always good, and because it’s a Malaysian brand, you’ll find it in many outlets in Singapore, but it also means delivery times and after-sales service are great! The Russell Taylors Stand Mixer S3 is a mid-range option, but you can nab crazy savings when it’s on special.

Its design has everything you actually require in a standard stand mixer, without making things too complicated. If your household doesn’t often use a stand mixer, but you’d still like to have the appliance in your cupboards in case it’s needed, it’s a good choice.

There are six speed settings — 1-2 for heavy mixtures like bread doughs, 3-4 for medium mixes like cakes and cookies, and 5-6 for light mixtures such as meringues. The elegantly shaped bowl has a capacity of five litres, holding up to one kilogram of any mixture. Attachments include a dough hook, flat beater, and whisk.

It’s designed with a tilt head, anti-skid rubber feet base, and also has an auto turn-off function. Power usage is 1300 Watts and 220 to 240 volts.

Electrolux Stand Mixer, $60

Best small stand mixer

Is your kitchen storage space limited? Hardly occupying any space thanks to its ultra-compact size, the Electrolux Stand Mixer is wonderful for novice bakers.

Out of the stand mixer Singapore selections, this one is closest to a regular hand mixer. Some consumers still prefer the old-school style hand mixer, feeling more in control of things. This provides the best of both worlds. The attachments are pretty much the same as a hand mixer, and nothing is overly fancy or hard to use (great for elderly consumers who aren’t super tech-savvy).

Plus, get this. The head detaches, meaning you can use it just as a hand mixer if you’d like.

With a 3.5-litre capacity and 50/60 wattage, choose between five mixing speeds. It includes dough hooks.

Cornell Stand Mixer, $34.90

Cheapest stand mixer

For consumers not fussed about the look of your stand mixer but rather focused on the price, the Cornell Stand Mixer is one of the cheapest on the market, with excellent ratings and happy buyers.

Founded in the USA in the 90s, the country that made this electric home appliances brand so popular was, in fact, Singapore. It’s been tested and trusted in local homes for decades.

This model is eco-friendly, using only 250 watts. Not only is it a super affordable purchase, but it’s great for the money-conscious spender, saving you on electricity bills, too.

With a 2.5-litre bowl, the capacity isn’t overly massive, but isn’t small, so it’s fantastic for mixtures like cakes, cream cheese/cake icings, biscuits, cupcakes, and other light to medium-texture mixes.

Boasting five speeds with a turbo function too, it comes with stainless steel beaters and dough hooks. It also doubles as a hand mixer. It has a one-year warranty.

Stand Mixers: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what size stand mixer I need?

To determine the right size stand mixer for your needs in Singapore, think about how often and how much you bake. A 3.5 to 4.5-litre bowl is usually enough for occasional baking or smaller households, ideal for whipping cream, mixing cookie dough, or making small batches of cake.

If you regularly bake bread, make large quantities, or cook for a big family, a 5 to 6.7-litre mixer offers more power and capacity. Consider the size of your kitchen countertop too, as larger models can be bulky. It’s also wise to check if the mixer can handle local recipes and quantities, and whether spare parts or servicing are easily available in Singapore.

With a 4.8-litre stainless steel bowl and a powerful yet quiet motor, it’s ideal for everything from cakes and cookies to bread dough. The tilt-head design makes it easy to add ingredients, and it comes in a range of colours to suit different kitchen styles.

For those seeking a more budget-friendly option, the Kenwood Chef series also offers excellent performance with similar capacity and reliable local support. When choosing, consider not just the brand but the availability of accessories, after-sales service in Singapore, and whether it fits your baking frequency and kitchen space.

What is the best affordable stand mixer?

In Singapore, one of the best affordable stand mixers for home bakers is the Mayer Stand Mixer (such as the MMX1710), which offers good value for money without compromising on essential features. It typically comes with a 4.5-litre bowl, multiple speed settings, and standard attachments like a dough hook, beater, and whisk—making it suitable for most everyday baking tasks.

Another popular budget-friendly option is the Mistral Stand Mixer, which is compact and easy to use, ideal for smaller kitchens and casual bakers. While these models may not be as powerful or durable as high-end brands, they’re a practical choice for beginners or those who bake occasionally, and both brands have local warranty support and servicing available.
