Rustic and laid back as Changi Village may be, it's home to one of Singapore's newest and coolest home accessory store.

Tucked away in a discreet corner of rustic Changi Village lies one of its best kept secrets to date. Nid d'oiseaux (Bird's nest in french) is a tastefully curated homeware and accessory store that's barely two weeks old, but that's not stopping this promising new player from making quite a statement with its classy European-style facade and well-styled interior. However, finding it may prove to be the biggest challenge. The unit (Block 1, #01-2004) is located along the main street of Changi Village, near to the 7-11.

There's plenty to look at when you enter the store, from tables of glassware to walls filled with trinkets. What impresses is the level of detail and care that's gone into the arrangement and display of the goods, which would seem more appropriate for stores located along the main shopping belt

More than finding things you need, you may also end up buying things you desperately want, such as the cool pet bowls and collars.

What caught our eye was the table filled with gigantic glass bowls that were designed to be placed over pieces of teak roots.

These Kelpie bowls are not just unique, they can also be used as a new home for your pet fighting fish or an unusual vessel for your centrepiece at home.

We love the way these fruit-shaped soaps are displayed and presented.

Dog lovers will dig these wooden dog boxes, which help to keep your keys or knick knacks stowed away.

Check out these flamingo-print cushions.

There are more nature-inspired cushion cover designs to choose from as well.

It's well worth paying a visit to this far-flung shop as there's lots to take in and discover.

These endearing bird clocks make excellent display stands for your airplants too!

12/13

As it turns out, store owner Velma Manoharan actually makes the bird clocks herself using local wood and painted by hand. Props to the young entrepreneur for her creativity!

So the next time you're dropping by Changi Village to catch that elusive Kabuto or Vulpix (for the Pokemon Go fans) or just to satisfy your Nasi Lemak fix, remember to go hunt out Nid d'oiseaux and say hello to Velma as well.
