This homegrown design-centric lifestyle store began in 2010. The brand’s unique contemporary products are designed locally, and sometimes playfully woven with Singaporean DNA.
Founder Edwin Low says, “the Supermama brand is very interested in enriching the material culture of Singapore through our collaborations with local designers and artists. We also have a strong root in Japan as most of our homewares are made there.” Supermama has since collaborated with over 100 Singaporean designers, artists, and Japanese crafts facilities, bringing together a diverse array of skills and artistic perspectives.

He adds that Supermama is a design brand and museum store that has become an integral part of Singapore’s cultural landscape. Located at 213 Henderson Road, the store presents a unique blend of contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship, bringing Singapore’s rich heritage to a wide audience.
The concept of ‘giving’ is central to Supermama. The owners believe that good design, familiar stories, and fine craftsmanship make exceptional gifts. One of their most well-known collections is ‘Singapore Blue’, a distinctive line of cobalt blue and white porcelain wares crafted with the kilns of Arita (Japan). The ‘Singapore Icons’ collection (part of the Singapore Blue line), was awarded the President’s Design Award.
Currently, the product line is divided into three main categories: Singapore Blue - collection of blue and white porcelain made in Arita, that is used mainly as giftware; souvenirs that are driven by Singapore narratives; and homeware. The new homeware include the: Arita 1616 and Arita 2016 collection.
“These two are brands of porcelain from Japan, and Supermama has the widest range and collection of the pieces in Singapore. I think when we search for tableware, it is given that it should be well made, well-crafted and durable. I think what makes us different are the stories behind each piece of homeware and that gives added meaning over the dining table.”
