Young Talent Programme x ION Art

If you’ve visited the past editions of Affordable Art Fair, you might be familiar with its Young Talent Programme, which acts as a platform for promising young artists to garner more exposure as well as be introduced to various art galleries and the public. The 2016/2017 winners will be having their solo exhibitions until September 24, as well as a myriad of fringe activities, from artists’ tours (which you can catch this Saturday!) to art-centric workshops by the winners themselves.

The Artling Pop-Up X YH Conversation Workshop

Some of these artworks might be smaller than the palm of your hand, but each have a world of detail and complexity to them. Painted by South African artist Lorraine Loots, #ANTSinSingapore - her first solo show in Asia - showcases 100 proof prints from her Potluck 100 | Paintings for Ants series as well as 5 original paintings made specially for Singapore. You can expect to see stunning work, from watercolour paintings of galaxies and nebulas to vintage book coverings done with excruciating detail.

After Dawn: BBQ Block Party

What better way to end your weekend than with food, music and a little retail therapy? The After Dawn: BBQ Block Party will have sumptuous grub from Camp Kilo Charcoal Club, beats by local DJs as well as fun carnival games with all proceeds going to charity. If you’re more interested in shopping, an artist market featuring independent brands will have everything from hand-embroidered illustrated tote bags to typewritten haikus for you to check out.

PARK(ing) Day

Everyday parking lots are about to get a huge makeover. This Saturday, parking lots along Bugis, Tan Quee Lan, Liang Seah, Sultan Gate and Bussorah Street will be transformed into interactive public spaces for a day. A total of 85 “parks” will be popping up, featuring creative almost quirky installations, cool urban furniture and even musical performances!
