Art Day Out! X The School Holidays edition

This might seem like an event for the little ones, but don’t be fooled, Art Day Out is chock full of activities for both the young and young at heart. Visitors can expect a strong showing of precinct-wide activities and programmes, with highlights including Wallpaper*’s Handmade exhibition, an interactive art tour “Art ‘Alive’” and Supermama Design Mart - a platform where makers and buyers meet. To keep you refreshed, food and drinks will also be available.

State of Change

Look through a window between the past and the present at the joint exhibition, State of Change, presented by DECK. Showcasing two independent projects, Some Other Way and Singapore’s Vanished Public Housing Estates, the event will cast light on the imminent closure of the Sungei Road Flea Market, also known as Thieves Market and 15 expunged estates that capture Singapore’s changing housing landscape in the 50s and beyond.

Sick Scents

A collision of hyper pop culture and scent design, Sick Scents features 7 unique and distinct fragrances created by Singapore multimedia artist Mojoko who has applied his signature style of combining the traditional and modern to perfume making. The scents are inspired by contemporary Asia and are wrapped in bespoke packaging alongside a series of artworks created specially for each individual fragrance and the memories and emotions they evoke.

Istana Open House

Take a rare trip down to the Istana this Sunday during the open house and check out a selection of the Istana Art Collection, a gathering of works by mostly local artists, which reflect developments in Singapore’s art history and cultural achievements. The collection includes both traditional and contemporary artwork, from a myriad of mediums from paintings to site-specific installations. The most recent addition is a large-scale triptych inspired by the flora in the Istana garden by batik painter Sarkasi Said.
