A staple of Singapore’s secondhand furniture and vintage decor scene is preparing to pack up decades of history. Hock Siong & Co., the beloved family-run treasure trove, has officially announced that it will be relocating from its long-time home following the en bloc sale of the building it occupies.

In a heartfelt post shared to Facebook by Brillyn - affectionately known as the “Hock Siong gardener” - the family opened up about the bittersweet reality of leaving the space that has housed their business for nearly 36 years.

“Somewhere at the back of our minds, we always knew this day would eventually come. But after being here for around 35–36 years, there is no denying the attachment and bond we have with this space,”
wrote Brillyn, acknowledging that the news initially brought feelings of anxiety, disappointment, and fear.

Over the decades, Hock Siong survived major setbacks - including a warehouse fire and the eventual closure of their Sungei Kadut location.

Through it all, the current address remained an anchor.

Reflecting on the move, Brillyn shared that the initial anguish has slowly given way to acceptance and renewed excitement for what lies ahead:

“This building merely contained [our memories] for a while. It is a container that held our memories, but it does not own them.”

Over the coming months, the team plans to share stories, milestones, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of their ongoing search for a new space as they prepare for the next chapter of Hock Siong & Co.
