New brand: Lee Broom

Get acquainted with the latest lighting brand Space Furniture has to offer: Lee Broom, a London-based brand that has wowed many with its twist on traditional forms. Crescent (below), for instance, is a spherical light sliced in half to reveal a brass- finished element. This fashionable yet versatile lamp is available as a pendant light, chandelier and table lamp. The Fulcrum Light (above) has a streamlined silhouette and an exposed light bulb; in satin black, it embodies an Art Deco-esque style, while in polished chrome, it is both edgy and contemporary.

Find it at Space Furniture, 77 Bencoolen Street, tel: 6415-0000 or visit www.spacefurniture.com.sg.

New Shop: Santa Maria Novella

Home fragrances and body care products from what is considered to be the world’s oldest apothecary – the Santa Maria Novella convent in Italy – are now here in Singapore. The brand was established in the 1200s, when Dominican monks prepared medications and ointments for their infirmary using ingredients from their garden. They were even the first to concoct rose water, as an antiseptic protection against the Black Death plague in Europe.

Today, the very same ingredients and techniques are used to create a suite of products, from scented terracottas (it is soaked in fragrance, and will release a scent that lasts for months) and candles to toothpaste, room sprays, and handcrafted wax tablets (pictured) for the wardrobes. Those feature actual rosebuds, orange slices and potpourri.

Santa Maria Novella products are cruelty-free, and are made out of plant-based natural ingredients. Find its products at Colony Clothing, #01-37 UE Square, 83 Clemenceau Avenue, tel: 6733-1173, www.smnovella.com.

New Brand:  Ralph Lauren Home

If you have ever coveted a fabric you’ve seen on the fashion runway, you’d be happy to know that Ralph Lauren Home’s Fall/Spring fabrics are now available in Singapore. Inspired by the Spring 2017 women’s collection, Great Sands illustrates the nomadic lifestyle with neutral tones and hints of distressed textures. You’ll also find the Artisan Loft range, which pays tribute to Japanese textile and the Indigo colour with a series of rugged floral and geometric motifs. Love the all-American cottage look? They have those, too.

Ralph Lauren Home fabrics and wallcoverings are available at Altfield Interiors, Level 18 Republic Plaza Tower 2, 9 Raffles Place, tel: 6823-6835, www.altfield.com.
