DIOR VIA NENDO
Fashion designer Christian Dior believed that the essential French aesthetics resided in the Palace of Versailles. He adored the palace’s iconic oval-backed medallion chair and used them in Dior Boutiques.

During Milan Design Week, Dior invited 18 international creatives to reinterpret the medallion chair for our times.

Japanese studio Nendo, naturally, went the minimalist way with Medallion 3.0 Chairs.

These were made with a 180 x 110cm, 3mm-thick glass bend to form a curvy backrest and base, while another domed sheet serves as the seat. An oval cut out completes the design and pays tribute to the original icon.
Dior Medallion 3.0 chairs are produced in clear, frosted, black and pink ombre glass. Visit www.nendo.jp and www.dior.com for more information.

GUCCI GANG
Gucci presented a whole lifestyle collection during Milan Design Week. Titled Gucci Cartoleria, the showcase introduced finely made stationery sets, including pencil, pens, colouring pencil sets, notebooks, and board games set in a whimsical display.

“I imagined a small cabinet of curiosities, a wunderkammer, like the cave of Ali Baba, that could accommodate these everyday objects and return them to a fairy tale dimension,” says Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele.

These indeed will sprinkle a little Gucci magic into your everyday setting.
The Gucci Lifestyle collection is available from Gucci Paragon. Prices upon request. Visit www.gucci.com for more information.

GREEN ENVY
With muted pastels in style, one’s options when shopping for speakers are more varied than ever. And audiophiles with a penchant for sleek design will be glad to know that the iconic Phantom II by Devialet now comes in a delicious shade of pale sage green, which complements its smooth curves and intricate details.

Engineered for precise audio performance, the Phantom II packs a punch despite its compact size, thanks to its two push-push woofers with extreme cone excursion and a full-range speaker.

You’ll have to get it fast, though – there are only 1,000 pieces available worldwide.
The Phantom II in sage green retails for $2,640 at Devialet ION Orchard and Marina Bay Sands. For more information, please visit www.devialet.com.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH
KENCUT

Bali-born, Yogyakarta-based Indonesian artist I Putu Adi Suanjaya, better known in the art scene as Kencut, started his creative journey by making woven baskets and figures for various traditional Balinese ceremonies.

He has been exhibiting his works since 2012 and graduated from the Indonesian Institute of Art in 2018. He is known for 2D and 3D-artworks, as well as hybrid digital ones, featuring whimsical humanoid figures with button eyes, including handmade dolls, traditional paintings, and interactive prints that animate when viewed through apps.

The button-eyed figures are Kencut’s metaphor for human life, in which actions are concrete but motives are hidden, much like the expressions of the button eyes.
