John Erdos Home (closed in 2015): Charming shophouse in River Valley
Furniture lovers, do you remember this beloved furniture store?
By Home & Decor -
Nestled in a charming shophouse in the Mohamed Sultan area, John Erdos Home was a 23-year-old company when it closed in 2015, well known for its rustic yet refined furniture pieces.
Designed by the brand’s founder, managing director and designer, John Erdos, many of the furniture were made of recycled Indonesian teak. Upholstered pieces, such as sofas and bed frames, are available as well, to balance out the “hardness” of wood.
The top floor of the three-story shop houses furniture pieces from the contemporary Ark Haus brand.

“Here, we want to show that wood and contemporary furniture pieces can look good together; everything can be mixed and matched stylishly with no effort,” says store owner John Erdos.

New to the store is Ark Haus, a brand launched in November 2023, with local creative director Louis Koay. The furniture line features contemporary designs based on European styles and trends. Think metal, marble and glass, and eye-catching silhouettes.
