For its ninth edition of the PS collection, Swedish furniture giant Ikea has gone experimental and edgy, putting out products that use material made with new technology, do double duty and are eco-friendly.

Seventeen urban designers from around the world have created wearables, lights, storage shelves, chairs and statement vases - some in bright colours and quirky shapes. The collection targets young urbanites living in small spaces.

There are more than 50 pieces available at both Ikea Singapore stores. The PS collection - PS stands for Post Scriptum - was first launched in 1995.

The capsule collection this year boasts interesting pieces: a lightweight armchair covered in a mesh fabric made by 3D-knitting, a manufacturing technique used to make trainers; and handmade vases with a trippy, swirl pattern made by re-melting glass that has been rejected due to bubbles or defects created during production.

Other highlights include a throw with a zipper that you can cocoon yourself in or a self-watering pot that is perfect for those going away on a holiday.

Prices range from $2.90 for a 30-piece set of napkins to $399 for a rocking chair.
