Hunting for a power drill, claw hammer or paint? Here’s where you can gear up!

Fancy yourself a DIY kind of guy, want to dabble in a bit of furniture restoration, or acquired new artworks that you want to put up on the walls? The key to getting the job done well is to have the right tools and equipment, and Singapore has DIY stores aplenty to help make even the clumsiest among us skilled superheroes.

Located throughout the island, Homefix stores have a wide selection of products to meet your needs, in addition to workshops, DIY guides and Do-It-For-You services. Well stocked, well known and reliable, Homefix can do exactly as the name suggests. Shop online or in store for more personal service and advice.

Selffix is another 14-chain store with convenient locations offering products for everything from flooring to car care and paint to pest control. They stock well-known brands such as 3M, Black & Decker and Philips and offer online shopping as well. Their website has an “ask an expert” feature that allows you to submit embarrassingly simple questions for a Mr Fix-it to answer. There’s even a Selffix app for speedy orders and delivery.

Zener stores are well equipped with garden tools, plumbing, electrical, and even home décor and hobby supplies to help you with nearly any kind of DIY project. They offer a “handyman” service, online shopping with free delivery for larger orders and discreet expert assistance, even if that means helping you repair the hole in the wall that mysteriously appeared after you picked up a hammer. The main store is at #01-07 Orchard Towers, Tel: 6735 4910.

DIY ESSENTIALS #B1-22 Sun Plaza, Tel: 6555 1301
As their name suggests, this store has all your typical DIY essentials. However, they also have unique auxiliary services like key duplication and name tag engraving. Maybe most importantly, DIY Essentials listens to its customers and will ensure your needs are met – even sourcing what you need from other suppliers, if necessary.

Touted as Singapore’s largest DIY hardware store, Horme Hardware’s Ubi location is sure to have what you need. With over 22 categories of supplies including fasteners, drills, paints and power tools, Horme will supply your job from start to finish. Keeping their core values at the heart of their operation – honesty, reliability, efficiency – this shop has come a long way from its humble beginnings.

HANDYMAN CENTRE #03-01 Lucky Plaza, Tel: 6737 7815
It’s worth a trip to this surprisingly large store for hard-to-find and rare items. Knives and swords mingle amongst hammers, piping equipment and paint. The helpful staff will assist with any questions but also love chatting all things DIY. Come for a quick stop and lose an hour in the self-proclaimed “Most Unique & Interesting Hardware & D-I-Y Centre” in Singapore. Also, the reasonable prices at this onestop centre will also keep you coming back for more.

Specialising in kitchen and bath supplies, Hoe Kee Hardware has four locations across Singapore.
