For some reason, the east side of Singapore tends to have a better reputation than the west side as it feels less busy and more scenic. That’s one of the reasons why Tampines is such a popular residential town - with lots of popular Tampines furniture shops.
With a population of over 259,000, it is one of Singapore’s most populous (read: crowded) planning areas, with about 5% of the population living there. It’s also one of the most affordable mature estates in Singapore. With numerous BTO launches taking place in Tampines in recent years, the area has seen no shortage of property transactions, with thousands of people coming and going each year.
Tampines has also become a hotspot for people looking to buy furniture in the east. Other than the ubiquitous IKEA Tampines, the area has become a wonderland of other furniture shops and furniture marts. Here are 10 furniture shops where you can get your dream home kitted out.

IKEA Tampines
IKEA Tampines was opened in 2006, 20 years after the first IKEA outlet in Alexandra. This Swedish chain store needs no introduction.
This Tampines furniture haunt is the go-to for cheap and relatively chic furniture for all parts of the home. While they do offer more expensive items, it’s their budget items that are most popular, as they are unbeatable in terms of price. Virtually everyone, myself included, has bought a cheap IKEA bookcase or bed frame as a poor student.
The main disadvantage is that you have to assemble most of the items by yourself. But that’s a small price to pay for bed frames that are as cheap as $50 to $100 and sofas in the $150 to $160 range.
IKEA Tampines is located at 60 Tampines North Drive 2, Singapore 528764.

Courts Megastore Tampines
After IKEA, Courts is probably the most well-known furniture store in Singapore. They specialise not only in furniture but also electronics and gadgets, so if you want to install a new home entertainment system for your bachelor pad, this is the place to visit.
In terms of furniture, Courts’s prices are on the mid-range to high-end side, but in exchange, you’ll get designs with more character to match your desired interior decoration direction, including collaborations with famous designers.
Personally, I would go to Courts mainly to buy electronics and appliances thanks to their wide range of products. The furniture is a bit pricey, so I would probably go elsewhere for cheaper options unless Courts had something that really tied in with my design needs.
Courts Megastore Tampines is located at 50 Tampines North Drive 2, Singapore 528766.

Star Living
Star Living is a long-standing furniture store in Singapore, the brand being active since 1981. They sell a wide range of furniture for all parts of the home.
This is one of the more typical Tampines furniture shops, with classic designs that don’t deviate too much from the norm. If you’re just looking to furnish your home in the most basic way possible and are fine with paying more for quality pieces, this is a decent option.
You’ll find mid-range and higher-end pieces with prices to match. For instance, for a sofa, you can expect to pay about $430 to $3,000, depending on the design and material.
Star Living is located at 18 Tampines Industrial Crescent #01-07/08 Singapore 528605.
Absolute Bedding Gainsville Bedframe ($2,698), Image from Absolute Bedding
Absolute Bedding
Sleep takes centre stage at Absolute Bedding, where you can buy all sorts of mattresses, bed-frames and pillows. They also have a selection of other furniture pieces including dining room and living room furniture, but their real strength is in their range of mattresses from brands such as Dunlopillo and Slumberland.
As is the case with most specialist stores, the products are on the higher end of the scale and pricey. I would shop here if I wanted to invest in a really good mattress. Prices start at around $200 for the cheapest single-sized mattress but can go into the thousands.
Absolute Bedding is located at 1 Tampines North Drive 1 #01-40 T-space Singapore 528559.
