Samsung officially launched the new Bespoke AI series in April 2025. That was a significant upgrade in smart home technology, integrating artificial intelligence across various home appliances to enhance convenience, efficiency, and personalisation.

What is Samsung Bespoke?

The original Samsung Bespoke line was launched in 2019, and was primarily about customisation, modular design, and aesthetic flexibility in home appliances. You may have seen the (pictured above) distinctly recognisable Samsung Bespoke refrigerator in South Korean dramas.

The Samsung Bespoke range was subsequently stretched to include more home appliances like washing machines, ovens, air purifiers and vacuum cleaners. All these Samsung Bespoke appliances offered basic smart features such as temperature control via smartphone and door open alerts.

In a nutshell, Samsung Bespoke was created to integrate appliances into living — a refrigerator is no longer just a regular household appliance, but something that should fulfil your kitchen design vocabulary.

There’s Samsung Bespoke, then there’s Samsung Bespoke AI.

An extra ‘AI’ to the name. What does that exactly mean?

Beyond WiFi control and motion sensors, the Samsung Bespoke AI series leverages AI technology so these smart home appliances can adapt to users’ lifestyles. Sounds so abstract, right? These smart appliances basically are programmed with AI to optimise performance, reduce energy consumption, and provide seamless integration with other smart devices through Samsung’s SmartThings ecosystem.

AI Energy Mode & Sustainability

The new Samsung Bespoke AI features an AI Energy Mode that monitors your behaviour and routines, and optimises energy usage across appliances. The mobile app provides real-time monitoring insights, energy usage, and offers suggestions for energy savings. According to Samsung, if you follow the app’s suggestions and make adjustments to your usage patterns, you can expect up to 10% decrease in energy consumption.

On top of long-term savings, the Samsung Bespoke AI appliances are designed to last, offering a 20-year warranty on digital inverter motors and compressors, emphasising product durability and environmental responsibility.

Samsung SmartThings Ecosystem

Samsung Bespoke AI appliances are all compatible with the Samsung’s SmartThings mobile app. You can manage all connected Samsung devices from a single mobile app, creating home routines and automations tailored to your lifestyle. Think of it like a Google Home or Apple HomeKit smart home system.

Everything - from appliance control to user manuals - is on the Samsung SmartThings mobile app.

Your Samsung Bespoke AI appliance also automatically performs round-the-clock device checks to ensure that the electrical appliance is always in order. When an issue is identified, you will be alerted via notifications on the app - imagine prompts informing you that your washing machine requires a drum clean, or a reminder that a servicing technician’s appointment is due.

Samsung Bixby Voice Assistant

Bixby, Samsung’s rendition of Siri, is the voice assistant that allows you to control your devices without even the need to touch screens or push buttons. From checking laundry status to adjusting refrigerator temperatures, you can do it completely hands-free.

“Bixby? What time will my laundry be done?”, is my favourite line so far.

For Samsung Bespoke AI appliances fitted with Bixby voice assistant, a built-in microphone and screen will be implemented within the appliance. So, you can stand in front of your Samsung fridge and talk to it. (Remember to close your windows else your neighbours might think you’re a little unhinged.)

Samsung Bespoke AI Refrigerators

The core of the Samsung Bespoke and Samsung Bespoke AI brands is the refrigerator. Offering a total of 5 different models, these Bespoke AI refrigerators are side-by-side refrigerators equipped with various AI features to bring greater convenience and efficiency.

So, what are these Samsung AI features?

• AI Vision Inside - basically fridge comes with cameras so you can see inside the fridge
• AI Home Screen - a touchscreen on the fridge door
• Auto Open Door - you can use voice commands or sensors to open the fridge’s doors
• Voice ID - fridge recognises voices of different family members

First is the AI Vision Inside fridge technology that includes built-in cameras that can recognise up to 37 fresh ingredients and 50 processed foods, and helps to manage inventory and reduce food waste. This is a useful and fuss-free feature for families with a preference for home-cooked meals, as it helps to streamline the cooking process by tracking expiry dates and discovering new recipes from the screen. The AI Vision Inside technology is only available in Samsung Bespoke AI Family Hub fridges.

Next, the 9-inch AI Home screen on the fridge’s door is a smart display that allows users to manage groceries, view calendars, and connect and control other smart devices. This Samsung fridge touchscreen display basically will serve as your smart home hub for all of your smart home appliances.

Of course, you can also manage your food supply and expiry, home communication, and entertainment, and cast your phone’s screen to the fridge’s screen.

The fridge’s touchscreen was inspired by traditional calendars and hand-written recipes. It also displays your family members’ individual schedules, as well as recipe suggestions based on the groceries you have in the fridge (!!).

Additionally, the doors are equipped with an Auto Open Door function that recognises voice commands, and can be activated via sensor-touch. That means, you can open your fridge’s door via voice command or by hovering your hands over the sensor. (Hygiene, much?)

The voice-activated Auto Open Door function works with Bixby. Obviously, there’s a built-in microphone on the fridge. Hey, if your child doesn’t listen to you, at least your fridge does.

“Hey Bixby, open the left fridge door,” you can yell!

Lastly, the upgraded Bixby voice assistant identifies the voices of individual family members, thanks to the new Voice ID feature. With the multi-voice recognition feature by Bixby, each family member in the household can expect personalised support, such as the display of specific schedules, and locating misplaced smartphone devices.

Samsung Bespoke AI Fridge Review

Reviews on the Samsung Bespoke AI refrigerators are few online since they were very recently launched. However, the famous sleek-looking Samsung Bespoke has garnered more reviews globally. Generally, these fridges are praised for their customisable and modern design - nothing much beyond that.

However, as with all AI technology, expect some data lapse in the beginning as the AI machine needs time to collect data and learn your daily usage patterns and set up efficiently.

The Samsung Bespoke AI Top Load Washer comes in 5 different models. Key AI features include:

The AI Wash utilises sensors to detect the weight and softness of the fabric in each load, and AI algorithms to recommend optimal settings such as water level, intensity, washing, and rinsing times for each specific load type. It allows more fabric care compared to traditional wash cycles. The fabric sensing feature in the AI Wash Technology can differentiate up to 3 fabric types, such as normal, delicates, and towels, in a wash load under 3 kg and provide better fabric care in the long run.

AI Energy Mode, on the other hand, allows users to control using the Samsung SmartThings mobile app and reduce energy consumption by up to 20% for 7 selected wash cycles. On the SmartThings app, you will be able to view energy consumption and usage each month, while keeping the monthly utility bills in check. To achieve better energy efficiency, the enhanced algorithm may help to adjust cycle timings. In addition to energy efficiency, the washer also comes with a 4-tick water efficiency rating by PUB to help households conserve water in the best way possible.

Designed with AI Vibration Reduction Technology Plus (VRT+), the washer promises a quieter wash experience by detecting floor conditions between hard and soft flooring, and adjusting the washer’s operation to minimise noise and vibrations. By using the AI VRT+™ with a built-in sensor, balancer, hybrid damper, and a solid base, the washer delivers a peaceful wash with lesser disruptions.

Similar to the Samsung Bespoke AI refrigerators, actual user reviews are limited due to the novelty of the Samsung Bespoke AI washing machine. However, reactions so far have been positive especially about the integration with SmartThings app that allows for remote monitoring and control, adding convenience to the laundry process.

Taking cues from the closest Samsung Bespoke washing machines, online user reviews generally complain about the lengthy wash cycles. Maybe we can expect the same for the Samsung Bespoke AI washing machines since there is a learning curve before AI machines fully operate efficiently.

Samsung Bespoke AI Vacuum Cleaners: Jet Ultra and Lite

Wonder what has AI got to do with vacuum cleaners? Samsung Bespoke AI Jet cordless stick vacuum was first launched in May 2023. The latest Samsung Bespoke AI Jet Ultra and Lite have an intelligent optimised cleaning mode that automatically detects floor types such as carpets or tiles, and adjusts suction power and brush speed accordingly, optimising cleaning performance and up to 21% reduced battery usage.

The 3-step AI Cleaning Mode 2.0 process starts with the detection of brush load and air pressure from a sensor in the suction motor controller. Next, the embedded AI algorithm classifies the data collected from the brush load and air pressure, which would determine the cleaning environment with the right amount of suction power and brush speed required. The highest levels of brush rotation speed will be activated when the stick vacuum is on the carpet, and the suction power will be increased when it detects that the brush is pressed against the wall.

The vacuum cleaners can be connected to Samsung’s SmartThings app, enabling remote control, scheduling, and monitoring of cleaning activities. Aside from managing functions and settings, you can also conduct up-to-date vacuum diagnosis and receive a custom step-by-step guide for maintenance, such as notifying you when it is time to clean the filter or vacuum brush. The Bixby voice control is also supported in English, Mandarin, and Korean for the Bespoke Jet AI Ultra vacuum model.

In terms of specification, the Bespoke Jet AI Ultra with HexaJet motor and a multi-cyclone structure offers up to 400 Watts and 148,000 rpm, currently the world’s most powerful suction power, effectively removing dirt, dust, and pet hair from various surfaces. The 3,900 mAh large-capacity battery can sustain up to 100 minutes of running time, and up to 60 minutes for easy daily cleaning with the interchangeable lightweight battery option, allowing for extended cleaning sessions without interruption.

One of the biggest pros of the vacuum cleaners would be the AI-driven adjustments that ensure optimal cleaning across different floor types and even corners, and the sleek design that sits well in modern home interiors.

However, some reviews also pointed out some challenges with the SmartThings app setup and connectivity. Some also said that frequent maintenance is needed as hair may wrap around the brushroll, but this is an issue with vacuum cleaners in general and may not be an unique problem of the Bespoke AI vacuum cleaners.
