The Trunk (Hotel) is a four-storey designer hotel located in the Shibuya district of Tokyo, Japan. With just 15 rooms to offer, guests to this hip new hotspot are assured something unique and memorable. Naturally, that also means a stay at Trunk isn’t going to come cheap. Single rooms cost around $400 per night while a single terrace suite can cost as much as $8,500.
What you can be assured of, is a premium experience in an ideal location that is away from the rowdy bustle of the Shibuya station while still being in close proximity to the various sights worth checking out around the city.
But once you step into the hotel, you’ll realise that this place is worth every cent you paid because of its uber-stylish looks. Sleek monotone palette mixes beautifully with the toned-down setting and understated appeal of the furnishing and interior decoration.
Wooden cladding in natural finishes add a sensual touch to the surroundings while the soft furnishing accent the spaces with a Zen-like atmosphere.
The clever play of up lights and soft illumination mean every shot you take in the hotel becomes an insta-worthy moment.
There’s also plenty of good food to be had in here. Dried food and coffee are sourced from local artisanal grocers and cafes while the sandwiches are made by a specialty-shop in the area.
At the same time, the prices of the food in the Trunk Bar are affordable enough to draw in the local residents. This means hotel guests can mingle freely with the locals in the comfort of the hotel bar. What’s more, the fact that this hotel only opened in May also means you can still beat all your jet-setting friends to a booking, along with the brag-value to match. How’s that for a design-trip worth saving for.
