Tiger and Arcadia, nestled in the Joo Chiat neighbourhood, was established in 2020 during the Covid-19 lockdown period.

Andrea de Rosetto (Martinez- Ampudia), the brand’s founder and creative mind, says that her lifestyle and home décor shop was set up with the intention of making people “travel within – as they browse the creations from all over the world”. She adds, “We support more than 160 artists and designers from more than 60 countries including places like Panama and Lithuania.”

Four years after its launch, Tiger and Arcadia is considered one of the best home and lifestyle shops in town. “Since then, we have been referred to as Singapore’s hidden shopping gem,” says Andrea, adding that they have new arrivals from different artists every week.

Born and raised in Mexico, Andrea has a colourful lineage and is proud of her Kickapoo roots (Native American Indian). She spent her childhood in Mexico City and subsequently moved to France in 1998. It was in Mexico, in her maternal grandmother’s (Lolo) house, where Andrea had a first-hand immersion in the world of colour and aesthetics. Lolo was a strong, independent woman (a contemporary of the visionary artist of Frida Khalo) who filled her home with colours as well as displayed all sorts of collected objects in her cabinet of curiosities.

This ultimately shaped Andrea’s fascination for interior decor and her yearning for travel. Over the years, her passion grew for design, craftsmanship, and beautiful interior spaces. France became her home away from home, and her source of inspiration. Her unique background and experience sparked her creative journey with Tiger & Arcadia.

The categories of products at the Joo Chiat store include kitchenware, furniture, cabinet of curiosities, lighting, rugs, home accessories and more. For tableware, look out for their Egyptian collection by artisans in Cairo. Andrea will be introducing three new collections for the Singapore market.

She points out, “One is handmade and designed in Portugal with a modern and elegant design. Another one is handcrafted in Sicily by masters artisans in South of Italy following ancestral techniques. And the third one is designed by a Danish designer.”
