In its latest collaboration with renowned German industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, Mutina presents Hives, a versatile 3D design element that can be used both as a surface finish as well as a freestanding structure.
Inspired by the design of beehives, Hives consists of single 13cm x 22.5cm x 7cm modules made from extruded terracotta that are suitable for both indoor and shaded outdoor use.
It can be used as surface material, freestanding partition both opaque and transparent, and even furniture! It's hexagonal modules can create flat surfaces as well as textured planes depending on its placement.
