FEATURE PROJECT: A 1,818 sq ft executive maisonette in Sin Ming Avenue
This maisonette apartment in the Sin Ming neighbourhood was designed to be both beautiful and functional. The homeowner, a professor in his fifties, needed a clean and bright backdrop so he could display his favourite art and travel memorabilia. He also wanted a mixture of Eastern and Western design influences.
The team fulfilled this brief by incorporating white marble and soaring arches, with subtle drama in the kitchen and bathroom tile patterns.
Detail is of paramount importance to the Three-D Conceptwerke team – they suggested rounded elements in the kitchen to complement the other arches in the home.
The entire renovation process was facilitated remotely as the homeowner was based overseas during that time.
An expanse of glass French doors lead to the terrace and study respectively, letting plenty of light in and visually connecting the spaces. Most of the furniture and accessories hold great sentiment for the homeowner, who has collected them over his lifetime of travel and humanitarian work. This interesting mix of the modern and traditional lends plenty of character to the home.
As the owner wanted the home to be fully wheelchair accessible, his bedroom is on the first floor of this maisonette. A patterned sliding panel separates it from the study for privacy when needed, and the design team incorporated minimalist LED strip lighting for different lighting options at night.
Each bathroom is a work of art, featuring fun patterned tiles that the homeowner chose together with the design team and the same rounded elements as the rest of the home.
