Having a bed on a platform may not be everyone's cup of tea, but there are good reasons why platform beds should be considered. Here are three:

ONE: After you've assessed your storage needs for your bedroom, build it into your platform bed and consider how you'd like to access the items. Winter wear and spare bedsheets won't be frequently used, so keeping them hidden within the platform would be a good idea. However, books and magazines can be stored at the side of the bed for easy access. Also, don't forget to make allowance for a nifty bedside table!

TWO: Platform beds are helpful in space planning. Due to the structure and raised height, the sleeping area is clearly defined from the rest of the room. Useful if you're going for the open-concept type of configuration.

THREE: If your bed is situated by a bay window, by raising the bed on a platform, you can now take maximum advantage of the view, sunlight and ventilation!
