The Airmosphere diffuser is a smart new way to sanitise the air, humidify the room and add ambiance to your private space.
With the pandemic still looming in our midst, there is growing concern over the amount of bacteria that exists not just on our home surfaces but in the air as well. I guess a big part of our fear stems from the fact that we are essentially trying to fight with an enemy that is invisible to our eyes. As a homeowner, I have been looking around for a reliable product that can ensure the air in my home, especially my bedroom where I rest, remains clean and healthy.
I have tried using air purifier units in the past, but I found it a hassle having to change the filters consistently. The air purifiers also tend to be somewhat chunky and don't really do much aside from its main purpose. So when I found out about the Airmosphere, it piqued my interest because not only can it clean the air using its proprietary Air Shield Essential Concentrate solution, the Airmosphere also works as a soothing nightlight, humidifier, an aroma-diffuser as well as releasing negative ions into the room to help you relax.
V-Stop also happens to be a Singapore-based company specialising in cleaning products, so I was confident of giving it a try since a big part of the company's research also extends to combatting the Covid virus.
The Air Shield Sanitising Concentrate offers a trio of benefits: antibacterial protection, antiviral protection, and fragrant scent. When used in conjunction with the Airmosphere Diffuser, the formula is released into the air, creating a bubble of defence that kills all microbes and protects your loved ones. Free of phthalates, parabens, sulfates, and mineral oil, the formula is safe for children and pets.
Aside from the diffuser itself, the winning formula to V-Stop's fight against bacteria lies in its Air Shield Concentrate solution. Now this is something new on the market, and very different from your usual essential oil diffuser mix. The solution is formulated using German Bioscience Technology. According to V-Stop, "Our active ingredient is a special amphoteric compound in an aqueous solution. It has been proven to provide a full spectrum of efficacy, safe handling, good biodegradability, and good compatibility with hard water and other surfactants." Active ingredients in the solution break down and penetrate the microbes’ cell walls, breaking down to eliminate the bacteria.
For someone who is big on home scents, I also love that there are 12 different scents available too! There are pure essences like Lavender, Citronella and Gingerflower, as well as essential oil blends like Clean and Free, Meadow Field and Elegance. The notes are light and dreamy, and smell really comforting.
Out of the box, this is how the Airmosphere looks like. I also got the White Tea Air Shield Concentrate to go with my Airmosphere. The size of the diffuser is 22cm by 22cm (base size) and 40cm in height. It's quite compact and can fit easily on a table, counter or bedside console. I like that it is circular in shape, and looks very modern. The water container portion at the top is also semi-translucent, and will offer a soft glow when in operation.
Setting up the Airmosphere diffuser was easy and convenient. All you have to do is to remove the water tank from the top, fill it with water mixed with the Air Shield Concentrate, and replace it back onto the base. If you are wondering what that stem in the middle of the unit is for, it's actually a sensor (embedded in the top part with the black tip). Another neat way of using the diffuser is as a quick hand sanitiser! When the sensor mode is switched on, you can hold your hand over the sensor and the Airmosphere will emit a cleaning mist onto your hands for a rinse-free clean. It's great for those who prefer not to leave the unit in operation all day, or those who want to use this as a convenient way for guests of family members to disinfect their hands on arrival or after using the washroom. I'm impressed with the multi-functional usage of the Airmosphere.
Another thing I like about the Airmosphere (or rather the Air Shield Sanitising Concentrate) is that one bottle of the solution lasts a long time. That's because the concentrate is to be diluted at a strength of 1:100. Homeowners with an existing diffuser can also use the concentrate to sterilise the air within a 30m radius, so you don't have to buy the Airmosphere in order to use it. It retails for $38 per bottle, comparable to the price of other essential oil concentrates, but is able to sterilise the air without the use of alcohol.
This is how the Airmosphere looks on my nightstand. Check out the soft glow at the top! There are two fan speeds to choose from and three different misting periods, so you can totally control the amount of mist being released. I tried putting the settings on high in the beginning, and found the bedroom covered in a blanket of light mist after 10 minutes! After some experimentation, I left the unit on sleep mode with intermittent misting, which kept my bedroom smelling great (and clean) throughout the night. I also found that after using the Airmosphere, I didn't wake up to a dry throat too thanks to the humidifying effects.
During the day time, when no one is in the bedroom, I switch to the sensor mode, so I can clean my hands when I come home from work. The sensor is quite sensitive and will readily emit the cleaning mist when your hand hovers over the top of the unit.
I feel better using the Airmosphere as I know there's a constant stream of sterilising mist cleaning the air in my room, even while I sleep. Plus the added fragrance makes this a terrific buy for the home. The Airmosphere unit retails for $138, and you can get it here.
