Kim Kardashian is set to break ground on a new minimalistic house with Tadao Ando.
The socialite, media personality and businesswoman, who is reportedly not invited to the landmark Met Gala fashion event happening on May 1, 2023, shared the news on her Instagram.
Kim Meeting Tadao Ando
"Met with the master himself, Tadao Ando to review and discuss a dream project we have been working on for the past two years. I visited his office in Japan so that we could make the finishing touches before we break ground.
So deeply honored and incredibly humbled to have the opportunity to work with him and finally see this special project come to life," Kim Kardashian on meeting Tadao Ando on Instagram.
Spaceship-like design
The house is set to be built in Palm Springs, California and has a spaceship-like design that reflects the Skims founder's love for minimalism. It is also a continuation of her "love affair with architecture, specifically Japanese," a sentiment she shared with Vogue.
Obtained permits twice
According to news reports, Kardashian applied for a permit for the new single-family residence in November 2021 but it expired before construction could take place. Consequently, a second permit was obtained with a trust associated with her.
Kim's mansion mock-up
From the mock-up shared by Kardashian, the grey concrete mansion will have a rounded-edged triangle design with a hole in the centre. Reminiscent of a modern art museum, the house will also be flanked by views of the surrounding mountains - the San Jacinto, Santa Rosa and San Bernadino.
