While other couples headed to furniture stores to pick up new pieces for their homes, Ms Pearl Leong and her husband Jay Sim searched for jettisoned items in their neighbourhood dumpster. With a keen interest in retro furnishings and accessories, the homeowners — a couple in their 30s — of this 883sqf four-room HDB DBSS in Clementi wanted their home to be a space where they can display their collection. The materials, lighting fixtures and furniture were selected to ensure the couple's collection of items complimented the overall look.
Wooden accents were incorporated in the living room to enhance the “natural” feel of the space. Solid pieces of teak wood form the wall panel, lending an earthy touch to the breezy interior. The wood panelling is framed in grids of Scandinavian blue laminate, giving it a vivid pop of colour and making it a standout wall feature in the living room.
Homeowners Dave Lua and Tan Ai Ling chanced upon a dining table from Crate & Barrel and fell in love with it. They decided to buy it and design their living and dining spaces around the dining centrepiece. “We have friends over quite frequently, so it made sense to have a large dining table as the heart of the home where everyone can gather,” Dave explains.
This eclectic farmhouse-style home belongs to a young professional couple and their baby, and is filled with trinkets and mementos. Many of the furniture and accessories were sourced online (including sites like Etsy) and second-hand.
