For a resident of Bidadari or an aspiring homeowner, the official completion of the estate on 8 January 2026 marks a significant milestone in Singapore’s urban planning. What was once a land associated with quiet remembrance has been successfully reimagined as a premium “Community in a Garden”.
For those living there, it means the dusty days of construction are largely over, replaced by a fully realised urban oasis where 8,872 families now reside across 93 hectares of prime, central-region land.
From Cemetery to Sanctuary
The history of Bidadari is a fascinating journey of shifting identities. Originally a grand estate belonging to the Sultan of Johor in the 19th century, it was later converted into one of Singapore’s most significant multi-religious cemeteries, serving the community from 1908 until 1972. Following the exhumation of the graves in the early 2000s, the land was left fallow for years, becoming a well-known haunt for birdwatchers and nature lovers.
Development began in earnest in 2013 with a vision to preserve that “wooded sanctuary” feel. Fast forward to today, and the land has developed into a sophisticated network of four districts: Alkaff, Bartley Heights, Park Edge, and Woodleigh.
The estate now boasts a 13-hectare park, a 1.6km green spine (the Bidadari Greenway), and the scenic Alkaff Lake—which cleverly doubles as a flood-control retention pond. This decade-long journey from 2015 to 2026 has successfully integrated the area’s hilly topography with modern high-rise living.

What does this mean for my Bidadari HDB’s price?
In terms of property value, Bidadari has firmly established itself as a “Million-Dollar HDB” estate. Its central location, proximity to two MRT stations (Woodleigh and Potong Pasir), and the “park-living” concept have made it incredibly resilient to market fluctuations. Because the estate is now “fully mature” with the completion of the final four projects (ParkEdge, ParkView, Bartley Beacon, and Bartley GreenRise), the lack of new supply will likely push resale prices even higher.
Investors and homeowners should note that the first batches of Bidadari flats (Alkaff Vista and LakeView) have already hit the resale HDB market after their Minimum Occupation Period (MOP), commanding massive premiums. The presence of The Woodleigh Mall and the Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre adds further “stickiness” to the value, as residents no longer need to leave the estate for daily necessities or quality dining.

Last year, we saw the “First Wave” of Bidadari resale HDB flats (from the 2015 launches) officially enter the open market. Because these projects were the first to be completed, they benefit from a “first-mover” advantage in price setting.
For residents in the “Final Wave” (projects like ParkView or Bartley GreenRise), your MOP in 2031 will coincide with a time when the estate’s greenery and the Bidadari Memorial Garden (fully opening in late 2026) will be completely lush and matured. Historically, fully matured estates with “ready-to-use” parks and heritage trails command a significantly higher premium compared to those in the initial move-in phase.
