Whether you are a design enthusiast heading to Italy this April or simply a fan of high-end craftsmanship, you may have spotted news about the German home appliance brand Gaggenau and their upcoming architectural installation in a historic Milanese villa, ‘Presence’ at Milan Design Week 2026 (21-26 April 2026).

What is Gaggenau?

Gaggenau is a luxury German manufacturer of professional-grade home appliances. While they are technically a subsidiary of BSH Hausgeräte GmbH, they operate as a high-end “innovation leader” with a history dating back to 1683.

In the world of interior design and home appliance, they are known for: “Made in Germany”, minimalist design (their home appliances look like functional art rather than just kitchen accessories), and traditional heritage plus avant-garde design.

Ok... but why is a kitchen brand at Milan Design Week?

To a heritage and luxury home appliance brand like Gaggenau, a kitchen isn’t just a place to cook; it is an architectural space. By creating large-scale installations, they can express their brand identity through “space, material, and light” rather than just showing off a row of ovens.

  • Opening Hours: 11:00–18:00 (Last entry is at 17:00)

The ‘Presence’ installation is the third Milan Design Week exhibition, following their 2022 and 2024 showcases. This year, Gaggenau collaborated with architectural partner 1zu33 - they aim to create a “refuge” from the noise of the city, focusing on “spatial clarity” and “deliberate restraint”.
