City Energy is Singapore’s first and only piped gas provider that's been in operation since 1861. Today, it supplies gas to over 880,000 Singaporean residents and customers for commercial and industrial use.
Two years ago in 2021, City Energy celebrated its 160 anniversary and went through a rebranding, shedding its aged City Gas identity for a newer green and smart energy solutions provider named City Energy.
City Energy has been working with private property developers to incorporate its holistic green smart solutions into condo apartments.
Also, City Energy has started looking into the use of renewable energy to lower carbon emissions such as replacing town gas with green hydrogen, and they are also in the middle of launching solar energy solutions.

“Life by City Energy is designed for customers to build the low-carbon homes and kitchens of the future,” said Mr Perry Ong, Chief Executive Officer of City Energy at the store opening on Tuesday.
Experiential showroom modelled after a home
The opening of Life by City Energy at Plaza Singapura, a lifestyle retail store designed to mimic actual home, features nine experiential zones showcasing sustainable and smart home solutions. If you're a homeowner looking to build a smart home, make a pitstop at this pretty cool showroom first.
Here, you'll learn more about energy saving, and low-carbon footprint smart home accessories. Then, you'll also be able to try your hands at the many appliances paired with smart accessories. Some home appliamce brands include Ariston, Casa, Ferroli, Habitap, LG, Kuche, Macro, Mayer, Mowe, Rinnai, and Whirlpool.

Smart home accessories
Amongst the smart home accessories you'll find include safety and security devices like smart cameras, sensors, detectors, and remote controls. Of course, you'll find many smart switches that enables you to control lights and appliances conveniently.

Smart kitchen appliances & setup
After you're done exploring the smart living room setup, enter the adjacent smart kitchen setup where you will find smart gas stoves, and kitchen hoods (connected to WiFi and will automatically turn on along with the stove).
More than just convenience, having a smart kitchen is about safety, and bills - you can also choose to switch off and on your stove and hood remotely, and monitor your household's gas consumption via the City Energy mobile app.
City Energy gas water heater, clothes dryer
At the back of the City Energy Life showroom, you will find a smart bathroom and laundry service yard fitted with a smart gas clothes dryer and gas water heater.
These gas water heaters are enabled with Wi-Fi - meaning you can control and view your water heater usage via the mobile app. Here, you'll also learn a few tips and tricks to lower your utility bill through the use of gas-operated home appliances.

More demand smart home appliances
According to Mr Soh Guan Hong, Group Head of Core Business Group in City Energy, there is a 20 per cent increase in the demand for gas water heaters when compared to pre-Covid days.
These days, homeowners tend to seek out convenient home appliances equipped with smart WiFi capabilities, so they can control their devices from their smartphones. However, a common challenge that smart homeowners face is the numerous mobile apps they have to contend with.
Smart home integrated service
To tackle this problem, City Energy came up with an integrated mobile app called iAppliances which synchronises a range of gas home appliances on a single platform.
On the iAppliances mobile app, homeowners can control their various smart home devices and appliances, while monitoring gas consumption levels and setting limits for energy expenditure.
Go by City Energy: EV charging simulation
Finally, a new exciting development by City Energy is its EV charging facilities and network. Go by City Energy is an electric vehicle (EV) charging service that enables seamless cross-border charging for EV drivers with just one mobile app.
At the showroom, you will get to experience a Go by City Energy simulation of EV charging while learning more about the benefits and service offerings by engaging with the touchpoints.
